I haven't had much experience in the hobby, at least not yet. But looking over many month's worth of past threads, there doesn't seem to be too much of a discussion concerning STD's. I'm thinking the incidence must be extremely low among upscale providers and hobbyists...otherwise it would seem to be more of a hot topic. Just curious(and wet behind the ears, lol).
The HPV vaccine isn't recommended for people over age 26, because it hasn't been studied well enough in this age group. If enough future studies show that it is safe and effective for people over 26, the FDA may eventually start recommending it for this age group.
So, I imagine if you want it you can find a doctor who will give it to you. May not be covered by your insurance though.
HPV is a pretty low risk illness. I would not say its any good reason to stop performing DATY or for those who provide BBBJ to change to covered. I would be much more aware of gonorrhea and chlamydia which hobbyists are far more likely to get than a cancer from a common HPV, and even the chance of those being passed along through oral is very low, something around the order of 3% at the high end. I can totally understand some providers only doing oral with a condom which will take most of the risk out of oral (but not entirely). I don't think it's cause for everyone else to throw their hands in the air and panic heh.
