After seeing a particular provider today, I realized that I am not sure how she would be able to be a reference for me with another provider.
Though I participated in this hobby several years ago, now that i jumped back in, everyone seems to be pretty paranoid (for good reason, of course!) and I am not sure how to get the references I need in order to meet with some of the top providers.
After your appointment (even now via email or phone call).....ask her if you may use her as a reference. Many providers are not reference-friendly for a variety of good reasons, and some for selfish reasons.
If you do ask for a reference in seeking another provider, you should include the URL (website) of provider that you've seen. That gives a comfort level (for me anyway) that she is a legit provider.
Giving the prospective provider just a phone number of the provider that you've seen is a tad risky. After all......how is the referring provider really to know who is asking for the reference? Personally I am reference-friendly, but unless I personally know the provider of whom is requesting the reference over the phone, I am not that comfortable.
I am very leery of giving a reference to someone who doesn't have a website of her own, or who has multiple reviews to legitimize herself.
