Well, I can't answer for other providers but I can answer for me.
I had only 1 gentleman request my companionship in Duluth so I will not be making the trip today. I cannot travel all the way to Duluth to see 1 gentleman. I have gas, hotel, at least one meal to pay for if I stay just one night. If I see a gentleman for 1 hour, my touring rate is $200. Eventhough I can get a very nice room through priceline at a decent rate, it is just not worth the time, effort and overall expense to go that far for just 1 gentleman. Now, if however, he would see me for a multi-hour date or offer to cover the cost of the room and gas by tipping an extra $100 or so, then I would consider making the trip as my expenses would be covered.
I am sure you understand. I would travel to Duluth, Mankato, Rochester, Fargo, etc for 2 (1 hr) dates per day as I prefer to keep things low volume anyway. Some providers, when touring especially, want to keep a busier schedule and see 3-4 (or more) each day.
Without a sure way to get the extra expense of touring covered, a provider could just as well stay home.

When providers are looking for enough interest to visit an area how much interest is enough? Just looking for certain # of appointments? # of appointments mixed with length of appointments? Is there a dollar figure in mind of what you'd like to make during the trip?
I'm curious since I've tried to to either make or have made appointments, but the trip(s) have always been canceled due to lack of interest. So now I have tried to watch the board and websites to see if the trips are still on or in some cases even scheduled since I can't really plan an appointment without knowing when the trip will be or is being made. Could argue that doesn't help generate interest, but it is what it is.
