Providers may not want to take plastic because it would record actual revenue and make it difficult to hide money.
For some hobbyists, I think it's not so much about fear of LE but fear of someone else seeing the cc trail. Maybe also fear of the cc info being misused. Not sure I'd give my cc to someone I'd just met. After a few dates... maybe then.
Or if not cc... how about traveler's checks? Does anybody use those anymore?? I haven't for many years.
