Ladies (& Gents); a reminder to google yourself!

We all have the occasional "brain fart" moment. I know I have my share. I have also seen times when a provider of obvious intelligence can have a momentary lapse that leaves something exposed online that shouldn't be.

Inadvertent exposure of information can also be made by persons other than yourself. One example of this could be a client posting TMI (too much information) on this site or elsewhere.

It can be difficult to always keep in mind how the ubiquitous search engines have access to virtually everything posted online, as well as the fact that EVERYONE has access to public web pages.

It is a good idea to google your information periodically (weekly?) in order to check for information that is posted online that could reveal personal information. Google your -
Provider name / Business name (if you use a relatively common name you may need to add additional search terms such as "escort" "minneapolis" "massage" etc.)
Phone number(s)
Email address(es)
Website URL
Any similar info that you can think of, including "old" names and information.

This recent post serves as a reminder to all of us how easy it is to inadvertently expose too much online.

I called my daughter from my "ho fon" one day. She has the same carrier so I thought I'd save her some money. She didn't answer as she didn't recognize the number. Instead she Googled it & surprise! Every ad, & review site I've been featured on came up at the top of the list! Fortunately as she is well into adulthood, she is aware of my little sidekick so no harm was done. In your ads etc., if you substitute the words for some of the numbers in your phone number the ad may no longer show up when the phone number is searched.

An excellent example of how this can work well is if you look at ads placed in the backpage "bodyrubs" section by a certain Ms. CG that used to be on this board. If her number is searched, there are NO ads, websites, or reviews that show up.

This won't work for some things; if you have a TER profile for example.

Some hobbyists seem to think there is something ambiguously negative about a phone # in an ad done this way. In fact, it is often someone wishing keeping their phone number discrete.

I actually appreciate it when a lady's phone number won't reveal anything should I ever do something stupid like leaving the wrong phone lying about with undeleted number(s).

This post is yet another example of why I hate using the internet for my business. Folks that have viewed my profile, & reviews will notice I have only had an internet presence for less than 2 yrs. Up until that point, I used the telephone chat lines. Exclusively! Why? NO PAPER TRAILS! When I'm off the phone, I"M HISTORY!

I am by no means recommending Chat line advertising. Particularly for inexperienced providers & hobbyists. They can be very dangerous, & seedy, both for providers, & more so for the hobbyist.

I have considered changing phones from time to time, but that is such a pain. Most of my regs. go way back, & they would never think to look for me on the wonderful world wide web. As a rule, I NEVER initiate contact. So I would stand to lose a lot.

Hmmmm... Guess there's good & bad to every option.
