I’m interested in how providers and hobbyists see the role of music in the hobby.  I’ve experienced the full spectrum in my sessions, I think: silence (i.e., no music), New Age-y waterfall music, smooth jazz, funky R&B, lush Barry-White type stuff, and commercial, Top 40 radio (complete with commercials!!) at high decibel levels!  

My likes?  For massage: quiet, New-Age-y stuff.  Lets me float away in the experience.

For FS sessions, I’m more open to a variety of stuff.  Though I prefer it as background noise, not amped up at full volume (a couple of sessions I’ve had, it’s been the latter).  The worst experience I had was in another city in my hotel: I had some nice Enya music on through my iPod, and the young lady, after a few minutes, pulls out a boom box, hooks it up, and ramps up some funky R&B at a very loud volume, right over my music, without so much as any comment (!!).

So, I’m curious: How do you providers decide on what kind of music to have on (if any) for a session?  And, do you ever inquire as to what the gent might like?  (I’ve never had anyone inquire; just wondering.)  Do you put on music that you like (I assume you do!)?  Do you ever try to anticipate what the guy might like?  What about having the guy bring over some music of his?

And guys?  Any thoughts?  I realize that usually that decision is out of our control.  Just wondered about any hobbyists’ thoughts.

It's the words and the groove that excite me. I usually host outcall so this is what I like and the ladies seem to like it, too. For me, the volume should be low enough to talk over and still hear the heavy breathing.

Are burned on CDs for me upon request by a certain gent who I adore but it's always my own eclectic mix of tunes, and they are all awesome.  (in my opinion.)  If a client doesn't approve of my tunes he will be forced to listen to Rush Limbaugh on KTLK.  (another fave of mine)

Love hearing the Temptations, Chi-Lites, O'Jays, Diana Ross etc.  This just gets me in the mood.

Being a huge music fan, I have always felt that music is can be incredibly sensual.  In fact I feel that music, dealing with auditory brain activity can be just as important as the visual part of brain activity.  It certainly can stir-up memories and feelings.  To me there is nothing better than good music to set the mood and keep the mood going.  I’ve never had a girlfriend complain about my “make-out” mix tapes/mix cds, I know sounds a little sophomoric, but they have always worked.  Trust me they’ve complained about other things…..  Now I admit I’m a little bit of a music “snob,” I’m a big alternative/indie music fan so my tastes are a little out of the mainstream at times.  Here’s a quick sample:

how these boards work.  Sometimes a thread is started and people stay on topic, and everyone has a good time.  Other times, someone takes it in a different directions, and it is what it is.  The OP doesn't "own" the thread.  C'est la vie.

Having said that, I'd still welcome contributions on the original topic!  

I put music on that inspires my body and mind to move a certain way.  I want to change it up a bit, because I'm getting tired of the same old thing all the time, but until I find what makes me feel that way, it's gonna stay the same.  

OG knows how I move, and so do a couple others here.  So, you tell me?  Is it working?  Lol...

Music inspires me to dig into certain parts of me. I listen to the sensual rhythmic stuff that lights me on fire so I can dance a massage onto a needy body!

I don't mind music except for rap,oh never mind, that's not music.What really bugs me is if they leave the tv on.

Nearly every musical genre is going to have plenty of selections that can be used.  Just my opinion, but if it seems as though it goes with wine, it will work well for the session.  The best and highest reviewed providers all seem to get this.  Hilary in particular is the absolute best at using music as a strong part of making sure the entire experience goes over the top in terms of being sensual.  Eclectic mixes of many types of music, all of it extremely sensual.  I even joked with her before that I couldn't walk into my local DSW without thinking of her.

Totally off of subject though, am I the only one whoever wants to have fun with some country sometime?  I've never heard it in a session yet and no, this would not work unless both really like the music.

Well....MOST of the time.  Sometimes Metalllica doesn't set the mood.

Finally!  Someone who likes classical, too!  For me, the list is too long even to start.  But, at the top of the list are Beethoven's Sixth Symphony ("Pastoral") and his Fourth Piano Concerto.

I would not want these playing in my session, though, because I'd be too distracted listening to the music to enjoy the lady!
