Lots of people talk to animals.... Not very many listen, though.... That's the problem. ~Benjamin Hoff
I grew up with lots of animals, I adore them Last year I lost Sadie, our family dog. About a month ago my dog, Gem, was put down. I hate how German Shepherds are so loyal and sweet, but are cursed with terrible hips.
My cat, Saucey, is 21 in October. I'm actually going to stay up with her all night, she's sick. This made me realize how pets really do keep families sane and healthy. I can think back to when I was 8 or 9 and whenever I was sad my dog/cat could rub against me or give me a kiss like they knew I was upset? If only animals could speak...they'd be so wise.
I think the majority of us have been blessed with an animal in our lives. If I had the emotional strength, I'd be a vet. But, I can't stand seeing an animal hurt. Humans can use their voice, animals have that heart-breaking yelp....
The main purpose of this post is to just remember our pets or cherish the ones we have. Not for sympathy.
If you read this and print out your donation receipt to a charity you believe in, I will deduct that amount from my donation (July 25-August 8 for up to $200 off) . A few of my favorites include: Achieve!Minneapolis, The Humane Society, Feeding America, ASPCA, MN Zoo and Books for Africa.
This may sound absolutely crazy, but these animals/people need our help. We are lucky to have homes and good health, lets help those less fortunate.
You must be a very caring and kind person.I have no idea how this could upset anyone.I also feel the same way about animals and will make a donation without expecting anything in return.Great post
Wait, why would this upset someone? I think it's kind of sweet.
I actually remember making a pretty solid donation to the Human Society on my 13th birthday back in 1997.
I can tell you from experience, if you haven't met Anya, she is a very kind, caring young lady. If I weren't so damn old I would make her mine. kudo's to you my dear, your a peach.(without the fuzz)
I think this is fantastic Anya! Kudos!
Bless your heart Anya! Animal advocacy and rescue are close to my heart as well. I'm sorry for the loss of your dear ones.
Animals are just perfect, they give unconditional love and deserve the same in return.
Your post made me well up with tears and doubt it will upset anyone at all. Thank you for doing this and bringing this important subject to everyon'es attention!

i think it's awesome. i would hope this upsets NO ONE. i loathe people that hurt animals
...gave my big ol' sweetie Golden Retriever a big hug, a smooch and a good noogie. Then he got an extra morning biscuit. I used to raise and show Collies and I have a deep love for dogs and respect for all animals. For those who are involved in rescue organizations, God bless you!! I'm sure I will be, too, at some time.
Nice post, Anya!
What an amazing and kind post ! One person making a difference.......I would support anyone who did something like this !
You've got a heart of gold! Thank you for bringing awareness on this subject, I love this idea! I'm so sorry to hear about your cat Saucey and your dog Sadie, losing a member of the family is very tough.
Love Always,
Jayna XOXO
Wow, talk about putting your money where your mouth is. OK, well maybe thats a poor choice or words but I think most will understand.
Thats great Anya. You are a very generous person to be sure.
You deserve our respect and admiration. I wonder how may of us (me included) would be willing to do the same in our choosen profession.
I am also a die-hard animal lover - I love my cats more than I love most people I'm glad you posted this and I don't know how anyone could possibly be upset by it!
XOXOXO
That's my girl!
Hugs,

Anya,
I grew up on a farm so we had all kinds of animals, including pet calves. We had our dog Lincoln, a black poodle and at one point had 22 cats. My favorite was Benita Jean and when she when to kittie heaven I cried like I had lost my best friend in the whole world! Animals love us in unconditional ways and provide us with a kind of companionship that is unequalled even by the best of human beings.
I live in an apartment building now that does not allow pets or I would probably have a poodle again.
Thanky you for sharing your experience and reminding us of a most worthy cause.
Hugs, Belinda
A few years ago I lost my cat Benni to pulmonary issues. Trying to get a cat to take a pill more than difficult but I was willing to go through the brief bits of scratching and biting to get her to take her medicine.
Recently my parents westie has been not doing so well since she is 17 so I understand what you're going through. Hopefully your cat will pull through and make it to 21 or even older.
Great post. Animals are part of the family and love you unconditionally.
Beautiful--thank you! My pet is so special to me. The unconditional love and affection she gives makes my heart ache for the many who are mistreated or don't have loving homes.
Jazzy and I thank you and will do our part to help.
Much love.

Wow I am also very touched by this post, and I think being able to do this for a cause you believe in is one reason MANY people work as hard as they do in their lives. Way to go for rewarding generosity by offering your own.
Especially in times like these in Minnesota, where many people are "laying low" and feeling a little friendless some days... a pet is the perfect companion. I hope your cat is better... and if not I offer my sympathy. Cats are my particular fondess and I wish I didn't travel so much so that I could have one again. The cats in my life have been my comfort and my joy since I was little.
Blessings to you Anya, and to EVERYONE who "puts their money where thier mouth is" whether it be a political or social issue. Karma comes around....
XO

They've done better by me than a lot of people have and I have no use for people who abuse animals.
All I can say is thank you for sharing your stories about your pets and advocating for animals.
I was worried "switching things up" may upset some ladies/gentlemen. But, I'm relieved and thankful everyone is so supportive!
From my heart,
Anya
That's a great idea, Anya. It just goes to show what a great person you are. Kudos to you!!!
