Uber Status at MSP? Any UofM folks going to Marching Band Event 4/6? I understand new seemingly favorable rules for Uber effective 1/1/2018.
This may be a help how to save money for other guys flying in and meeting companions. Question: Has anyone tried Uber pick up at the airport and any problems? I know Terminal 1 has a pickup area for Uber rideshare and have a map of the terminal. Being frugal looks like I can save about $200 by not renting a car at the airport but Urburing to my hotel just a few blocks from an Enterprise location in St. Louis Park (only a few miles from where I lived many years). Many decades ago the old Skyline strip club on Hennepin, first got me interested in sexwork options and the rest is history and related to the old Jesus People Church in the huge theater a few blocks South. While its still going to be a bit cold for my Phoenix blood at least you should not have snow. Also have tickets from some of my old favorite places 20+ years ago: Chanhassen Dinner Theater (aunt use to work at) and Old Log in Excelsior. I realize the strip club scene is terrible and like in Phoenix lots of risks at MP's but might consider some other options but will be busy more as a nostalgic tourist having lived in area for about 40 years before escaping the cold for Phoenix
It's not clear what you're asking, or how strip clubs and churches get into this but...
If you're arriving at either Terminal One or Terminal Two, both have specific places where Uber or other ride share services will pick you up. And pick you up only at those locations. They are called "App-Based Ride Services" locations. In Terminal One, you go down one level from baggage claim and follow the signs. It's one flight up from where you get taxis. In Terminal Two, take the bridge over the road that is just outside where you'll come out of the secured area, across to the ramp. Down one flight to App-Based Ride Services.
If you're going to the airport, Ubers will let you off wherever you tell them to.
Light rail drops you off on 1st ave downtown mpls and its about a $10 uber ride to where youre going in St Louis Park. $1.75 for light rail ticket and takes about 45 minutes to get from the airport to warehouse disctrict. Trains run every 10 minutes.
Great uber pickup description. I had to mention strip club so as to be relevant to the board Yah, after reading the Star/Tribune today with all your snow I hope don't have snow in early April. From wx sites average high in 50's and low in 30's and little chance of snow in early April. It is about 80 here in Phoenix. I would have come when warmer except for the UofM event I want to go to.
The light rail is good suggestion except I will have lots of luggage to haul so think I will uber to the hotel from the airport and then rent a car from nearby Enterprise saving about $200 vs renting at the airport.
BTW if any old times in Edina area, like 50 years ago was a popular larger family-owned restaurant just East of France on 50th Street as I recall. We had family holiday dinners there for many years. Can't remember the name and don't recognize it on maps so probably long gone. At least the Perkins by 100 and Eden is still there - a favorite of mine long ago as well as the old Mr. Steak near U of M, east of Cedar-Riverside area
If you have a Costco membership look on their website under the travel tab. Might save you the entire 200 bucks and be able to rent from the airport. Seriously. I don't know how they do it, but I have rented cars so insanely cheap through them even the agents have commented they have no idea how I got such a good deal on a car. They use "regular" companies, Avis, Budget etc when you rent, it isn't some weird fly by night operation that you get stuck with.
Thanks to a note the mystery restaurant I remembered long ago was Pearson's in Edina. Also congrats to MSP:
Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport named Best Airport in North America for second consecutive year A survey of travelers again put MSP at the top. (Minneapolis Star article0
