Ladies and gents. What is one word that you really dislike or find offensive? For me one of them is "Hun". I find being addressed that way to be very impersonal to perhaps demeaning especially if I have introduced myself (in an email for example) by my first name and have addressed the lady by her name as well.

Not a word but the phrase "no problem" is usually used in the context where shouldn't be a problem to begin with. As in" could you please bring me a menu" tThe reply "no problem" why would that be a problem. It's their job.

... as in 'engaged in one's work'. It used to be a worthy word and noble expression of one's dedication to quality, expertise and loyalty to their work and employer. Now there are 'engagement committees' and like activities that have us using the word sarcastically, mockingly and usually accompanied with a subtle roll of the eyes when used among coworkers.
Personally, I enjoy it when a provider calls me 'Hun' or 'Sweetie'. It adds some light hearted informality to the relationship and makes it OK for me to call her 'Babe' or 'Sexy'.
"Hey, Babe. Thanks for the wild time last nite!" "I had fun, too, Hun. Call me anytime! Thanks, sweetie!"
Thanks for the perspective on 'Hun', etc. Always good to hear the other side of the coin and it would be interesting to hear others' points of view. I may well be in the minority on this one.
But speaking of the other side of the coin, no matter which view we have we can still win. As the old saying goes. Flip the coin: Heads we get tail. Tails we get head. Win/win.
"Mangina" It really gets to me when guys try to degrade each other using female terms. As if we are so awful that it's an insult to be compared to us.
A close second is "hooker" -- Most usage of the term I've seen have been to degrade and dehumanize the provider to just the transaction. Most of us agree providers can be wonderful people. I don't see that so much here, but I see it a LOT on the general boards.
(edit No, I'm not super sensitive. I just like to see people respecting others. Disrespect has its place of course but to degrade an entire class of people is going a big far IMO.

Abby, I usually cringe at some of the things you post.... (Your 17 yr. old seeing all that shit, and I forget what else) my point on that being I never thought I would agree with Much that you say but you make a very good point about the word mangina.I personally have never used it, and now I know I never will. Such an appropriate word for much of the emasculated "men" that post here. I wish men would reclaim their manhood, but until then, mangina will just have to do.
I like it when a woman uses Hun, sweetie, luv etc when we first start communicating since a lot of the communication nowadays is either email or text. It immediately takes down any sort of barrier and puts me right at ease in communicating with that person.

So, it's been a few days and this word, "so" hasn't come up. It seems as though I hear it in conversations, on the news, especially by stringer-type reporters in the field, almost every time a person is asked for details or an explanation of how something works.
So, it's used to preface remarks and it's become way over used. I'm tired of hearing it and I'd like it to go away. Whatever, just sayin', you know? So there.
One reason this word bothers me as much as it does is that I've found it creeping into conversations I'm having with friends, relatives and colleagues. And, it's falling out of MY mouth unless I stop and engage my brain fully, prior to speaking.
So, like, I'm not sure I like, ya know, really get your meaning, ya know? So, like, if you can like, be clearer, like, so I get it, man, ya know? So, like, if I like really, stunt the issue, like, maybe I'll, ya know, start to get it, like, ya know..... Just sayin' man, I hear what you're sayin'............OK,like, cool.
