I'm with vorlon, I don't really understand what they do.  Are they just basically temporary moderators?

Right now only the admins know what's going on and they have not shared this "idea" with the moderators. You know as much as we do at this point.

When the details are finally shared with the moderators, I will endeavor to shed some light on this subject.

Is there any light our mods can shed on how this is supposed to work exactly?  As it has been described, this "cruise director" concept is as clear as mud IMHO.

I am sure we can all rest a little easier now.

accompanying these "positions" so IP's, aliases, and moderator decision powers will be with staff on those boards.

I applaud what they are trying.  This board it fairly tame.  But some boards are dominated by a few who enjoy belittling others.  

I don't know how it will work.  Or if it will be effective.  But at least something is being tried.

Yup, those do seem to be very valid points, but after seeing Apollo's Atlanta post, it seems that access to IP addresses, etc won't happen?  So the CD is just someone like you or me who gets the 'position' for a month and posts fun things to do like "ladies show us your...." or mediates agruments or tells us all to be nice?  Sounds kind of weird but will be interesting to see how it works on the sights where it will be tested.

...I doubt his or her dire predictions will come true. I recall when TER blacked out access to providers' ratings in the reviews to non-VIPs that many of those non-VIPs predicted that TER would soon go to hell and become irrelevant. Didn't happen. Like most changes on this board, I'll just roll with it and see how it works out before I bitch. This should be an interesting experiment.

But I have to wonder why they are turning over moderation of the boards to customer support.  I don't see any upside to that.  Seems to me it will be more difficult for a rotating casr to learn the ins and outs of each board.
