END OF MESSAGE

I was reading posts and saw one where a technologically inept spouse inadvertently found undeleted messages.  I was going to post in that thread but the topic deserves it's own thread. No sense in hijacking a perfectly good thread, now, right?

Anyhow, I was conversing with an old flame and he put all our messages and pictures in an app called lockbox. I never did get the app, but I read up on it. Apparently you can hide this app so cleaverly that even advanced technical eyes can't find it, because you can have TWO logon codes to get on your phone. One to get into the phone, one to get straight to lockbox. You can't find it on your phone. I don't remember specifics beyond that.

I just did a quick search and it's got a program for your computer too, and it's on itunes and android.

He did say it failed him once or twice but only that one or two messages got through. I don't know if this was user error or not, and it was a few years ago so if it's a glitch it's likely to have been fixed. (edit: nope. Not fixed. http://www.badappreviews.com/iosapps/89644/lockbox )

I don't have prying eyes, but I do have to be careful when I'm showing friends pics of my kids from my phone because mixed in those are naked selfies. I have come close a few times, and yikes!! Just today, thumbnails of closeups of my jayjay splashed all over my smartphone screen at a garage sale! Good thing the lady had no clue what she briefly saw. Yikes!!

I was wondering what you guys/gals use for security beyond burner phones. What apps, programs, etc. do you use to protect sensitive content?

Take selfies galore --send to your hobby computer (and to me. It will make my day but I will delete them too.)  On your hobby computer bury the stuff there and add a special password to protect it (easy to do by either creating a separate user or hiding files or putting files).
Hint: to test, be on the general user and do a display all files mode. If you can see them-you are not doing it right.

Cell phones are shared. Clean them. I know one provider whose fourteen year old boy picked up her phone when it slid under the car seat and got his birds and bees info right then.

As for contacts on cell phones, I keep a woman's name on only for the day leading up to the visit--then after the two call, visit, and thank you: the directory entry and history of incoming and outgoing calls is deleted.  Names are altered to be recognizable but conceal gender. It is not hard to reenter for next time.

Delete all texts on cell phones as soon as they are read or right after a visit.
Never ever store a woman's home or incall on any device, including your car GPS.  Never!!!

Do unto others, ..

No reason to keep anything on the phone. Use a web biased email to store files.  Just email pics and files to the gmail acct and delete everything from the phone / computer. Do not write down the password. Do not give a recovery phone number or real contact info to gmail.

to do/have any hobby activity in the home.  Including your day-to-day phone.  Nothing is fool-proof but to use home computer/phone is inviting inquiring eyes.

I use secret photo and video vault- its password protected and functions as a calculator if you don't enter the right number combo

Here is a great app for hiding photos. It even has a dummy password option. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/private-photo-vault-ultimate/id417571834?mt=
