Just when I'm ready to give up a great gent reminds me chivalry is not lost

Lordy, lordy, it's been a hellacious two weeks for me in the hobby. I've had a record breaking eight cancellations since the 28th of September! Three between the 28th & 30th resulting in the need to cancel on three great gents I was scheduled to see in Duluth because the funds to make the trip were lost. Then one scheduled on the 4th costing yet another loss as I had rejected two other appts. as I "thought" I was busy. The 5th, another one & then the sixth rolls around & "surprise" another. That particular one I had already invested $49 in items "HE" had requested for the date. I did ask that he reschedule for the 8th (the original date he scheduled) & if not to at least please reimburse me the $49 I spent as I would have not have purchased the items were it not for him requesting them. His response? SILENCE! Two more cancellations since. The last one happening less than an hour ago after he had postponed his original appt. yesterday. No postponement this time. Just a flat cancellation.

I close my eyes, & take a deep breath. Naturally my 1st reaction is one of anger & frustration. Then I remember a gent I saw several weeks ago. He had scheduled & had to cancel. He then rescheduled & we got together. After the 1st round & a bit of down time, I proceeded to initiate another romp & he let's me know he can't. He was here on business & after his meeting ended he got a call from another customer that they needed to see him ASAP. Rather than canceling on me again he told the customer he had another meeting & would get there as soon as he could. I was in awe. There have been many kind gents prior to him who have made every effort to keep their appointments & I guess I just wanted to say thank you to all of you boyz who do put forth the effort to hold to your commitments. You are priceless in my book & deserve a salute. Happy hobbying everyone!

Warmest regards,
Leann

Good things come to those that wait.
Better things cum to those who get out and get busy.
It's their loss.

Leann,
It's sad that this happens.  I know when I got a chance to meet w/ you it was a really great time and I hope to repeat another day.  Obviously there is no excuse for cancelling without any courtesy or advance notice or utter silence.  Obviously life is hectic, s**t happens but common courtesy to all parties should be the norm.

I know that when we first met I had a few "irons in the fire" so to speak... waiting for contacts to get back to me and what not.  I actually had a call back from another lady after You had graciously made time for me and You and I had already made plans to share a bottle of white wine and some fruit.  It was a simple matter of choice and I think I chose wisely because we had a great time with you on a Saturday afternoon :)

Perhaps some of these guys have been NC/NS'ed at some point and feel it's "ok" to perpetuate this type of rudeness.    I know one time I drove 45 minutes for an agreed upon appointment, called from the designated place at the designated time, only to get no answer and a full voice mail box message.  Then I sat there for 15 minutes waiting for a call back and eventually just drove the 45 minutes back home.  That sucked really bad but it didn't cost me anything... except gas, my time and a little bitty piece of my soul...*sniff*.

However, when the other side of the coin is turned it can obviously create hardships as you describe.

MEN:  I'm sure it's been said before but... Lets advocate for some common decency and let these loving ladies know we appreciate them... with our actions and deeds as well as our compensation for their time.

And being stood up is never fun for the person being stiffed (no pun intended).
Whether it is the provider or the hobbyist there is never empathy or apology going around.

We all have lives & things come up. Cancellations go with the territory. It's not personal. Just a major shock to the system when it happens all at once. Never experienced that before. Lol!

I am fine. There were enough gents that scheduled & followed through that the damage definitely didn't have a serious impact. In fact, I shut off the phone today & relaxed & did some baking!

Thanks so much for the supportive comments & PM's. It confirms what I have always believed & experienced in this hobby. That there are many people engaged in the hobby that really do care & value others. AWESOME!

Hugs!!!
