But your situation seems much different. It was a FS provider and I assume she charged you her regular FS-style rate, right? In that kind of situation, I’d expect that a Professional would give a heads-up as soon as she knew about it and give the option to proceed or postpone the session. Or she could offer a discount (or a time extension, if feasible) due to FS being off the menu. IMO the provider could have handled it more professionally, based on what you told us.
