Hi all. I should probably post this sort of question on the newbie discussion board, but I can't resist asking because not long ago there was a fairly lengthy thread here about what to do if stopped by LE when in the process of leaving an appointment/session. The basic advice offered by pretty much everybody was simple: essentially, keep your mouth shut and only see well reviewed providers. I guess my question is, how common is this occurrence? My guess is it must be fairly rare, but still, is it a tactic they sometimes use? Obviously, all LE would have to do is find out where a provider's incall location is and park an unmarked squad car within viewing distance on the same street, etc...forgive my paranoia, but has anyone here experienced this sort of thing? I get the part about keeping quiet, lol. Thanks in advance for any thoughts on the matter.

If it was that common, a lot of people would have mentioned having it happen.  Also, keep in mind LE does not have unlimited resources.  They want to use them in a way that results in the most arrests and ultimately convictions.

the p do not just pick a hotel, they talk to the hotel employees who "wana be' cops.  The employees can tell by activity if a girl is renting a room for several days and has a number of 30 Minuit male visitors.  The also watch the trash and laundry.  When thy suspect a provider they call the local P.  When a potential customer comes to the hotel the employees call and the P wait out side, most often out of sight but in marked cars.  When the hotel advises them that you are leaving the cops follow far enough to not let the people in the hotel see the lights come on and they pull you over and start with questions "what were you doing at the Motel?  They know you were there and it does no good to lie or cover.  Their goal is to get you or the provider to say something incriminating.

THIS IS IMPORTANT; they will lie.

they will tell you they talked to her and she told them everything. they will say anything.  The next move is to tell you "if you just help us you can go home"  That is true, if you rat out the girl you can go home and in about a week your name is in the paper and you get a criminal complaint mailed to your house.

What ever you say does not matter.  There next move is they go to the room and tell the lady that you have confessed everything.  Now they tell her "it is not you we want it is the John, and if you (she) will just help them she can go home"  again that is true.  She needs to give up everyone she has seen in the past stay at the hotel.  If she cooperates she can go home.  then after they have charged all of the Johns she will get a criminal complaint served and she gets busted.  It is a well planned con.  They will make up what ever it takes to convince you that she sold you out.  Most providers are to smart, most guys are not.

Remember this and everyone is safe; they need to get someone to say there was a deal to trade $ for sex.  Unless they have that they have nothing.  Sex is not illegal, they can catch you with a full condom still on your D and they can not do anything.  You need to fuck up and talk.  DON'T TALK.  You are required to tell the police your name and show ID.  Not doing that will just make it worse.  admit your name and show ID.

What to say: "I do not understand what you want from me and I will not talk to you about anything with out an attorney present".  (that said) "I have nothing more to say, am I free to go"  The NAZI's get real pissed when you out smart them.  They are not done with you.  The threats can get very real but they are only threats.  the lies get scary but they are only lies.  
 "I am not comfortable talking AT ALL with not my attorney"  

They will say "if you have not done anything you have nothing to loose" that is a lie.  they will remind you "if you just help us you can go home"  stick with "I will not say anything, confirm anything or deny anything, am I free to go"  If the lady is smart and does the same they can not do anything.

Thank you all for your responses, it is greatly appreciated. Thank you for the links; it's good to know your rights...or at least, what remains of them these days. A lot of times I can't help thinking that if I were highly skilled in a profession that was in demand I'd move to Canada or New Zealand or France or some such place. It sounds a lot like the thought experiment called The Prisoners' Dilemma. Long story short: two prisoners who have no contact are pressured by the police to give up the other. If both give up the other, both go to jail. If one talks first, he or she goes free and the other one goes to jail. But if both stay silent, both go free.

You can call it chivalry and protect the provider, but when it comes down to it, there's no reason to help the police. The last thing they have in mind is your interest or well-being. Take the advice of all the vets on this board. Say nothing. It'll be difficult, and the cops will try to bully and intimidate you. Don't let them; lawyer up.

I would stake out the hotel if seeing a new lady and try to spot any discrete signs of LE all the while sipping a cup of coffee and munching on a bag of donuts in the lobby.  

There ARE hotel employees who would narc when they see a 'pattern', but in a well traveled hotel blending in and knowing where the elevators are is essential.  Dressing the part, if it is summer, dress like a tourist, if the hotel is in the financial district, bring a briefcase or a shopping bag (Nieman Marcus / Macy's / Bloomingdale ...) and dress sharp or like a tourist.  The key is blend in with the people coming and going.  If I was going to a hotel, I ask where it is, and dress the part, fetch a cup of coffee, or newspaper beforehand and head straight to the elevators once I walk in the front door,  smile at the desk clerk and walk with a purpose to and from
