My concern...

Bri,

I think his question or wariness was because he states she immediately said where she was- could be she is that new and did not know any better- wish we had some kind of way to mentor new ladys on the ins and outs of safe procedures-(no pun intended:)  I have nothing against back-page, for personal reasons I do not use it currently, but I will not accept referrals from BP girls with-out a presence that have no  reviews here by a hobbyists that have reviews themselves- other then that  I certainly do rely on them and many have gotten a great leg up using BP,  if they fall into that category I just said.  As far as what the OP said about cheap motels assumption, I have no comment, but do feel sorry for the lady if she stated immediately where she was.  Just my humble .02cents- hugs dear.

Called a girl without reviews, and she told me up-front which hotel she was in. Her as in on BP, and it surprised me that she was in a nice hotel downtown.

I've never thought that the "two-call" system as I've usually seen it has much security value, so maybe that's no issue. I'd also rather go to a nice hotel, but I've just never had a BP girl use one.

Is either a red flag?

I know that some local girls use decent hotels and have ads on BP, but most of the ones I can tihink of are also on P411.

Something about this girl's ad just made me assume that she'd be at a cheaper hotel...

Do you assume that if she has a cheaper hotel then she would be cheaper and is that what you were going for?

This may be an area where the hobby is an exception, and that would be a good thing. Rich girls preen differently. I don't know how to describe it, but it might be that they're used to being paid attention on a personal level. There's no reason that a girl who's using the hobby to move up shouldn't book a nice hotel, but it still threw me to have her name her hotel right away.

...which most would consider nice hotels. Many less than $100/nite. Pretty affordable.

And I've seen quality providers who advertised on BP only and used nice rooms.  I don't see it as a red flag in and of itself.

I was going to say that if a person can plan 4 - 5 days ahead, then Tue-Th you can get some nice rooms for less than $100 via Priceline.

and paid less than half the motels regular rate.  Booked it as I was sitting in hotels parking lot.

I completely agree with you. I think she is just new and hope that when gentleman to come across some of these gems that they refer them to ter. Its a good place to learn a lot more about safety and there's a great group of people here.

Sure could be some novice mistakes, but if there is any discussion of services and price, I'd stay clear.

A savy shopper can get a good deal on a nice room so that's not a problem. Telling you where she is on the phone is also not so bad, she has to tell you eventually any way. Posting her location in her ad, if that's really where she is, is a poor plan.

BY DT, I am assuming you mean Minneapolis. If yes, then I would not worry as much. I seldom hear of stings in that DT area. Not to say they don't happen, but far less frequently compared to a lot of inner ring suburbs. Also, if you meant downtown Saint Paul, then I would be a bit more critical just because of that cities rather heavy handed approach to the hobby in general.

Be safe out there.

I am not concerned about the fact she's using a nice hotel but to give her location with no appt set is scary.
Please advice her to only give a general location if asked UNTIL an appt is confirmed.

Exactly right !

If for any reason the rest of the conversation does not go well and she decides she doesn't want to go through with it well he already knows the hotel.

It's possible she was at a different hotel in the same area and just gave that location to get you close, I have seen that done.

She is putting her fate in the hands of a total stranger. Any number of things could happen. He could be a stalker, he could inform the hotel this lady is hooking out of it, he could be LE, a rapist, murderer, ect.

I recognize gents would prefer gals make scheduling a date as easy as possible but a lady's safety has to come before anything else. IMO the gentlemanly thing to do would be to inform her of the potential risks & it would be a kind & caring gesture to refer her here where she can learn the ropes & possibly find a good mentor to help her succeed & keep herself safe.

I hope for her sake if anyone is PM'ing you for the gal's ID you use discretion in who you are giving her info to & refrain from disclosing the hotel she is at.

If a cop is calling a provider to set up an appointment and try to make an arrest, I don't see how not getting the name of the hotel until the 'second' call, is going to hinder him one iota.  If the gal has numerous callers in circling mode, then it might be better if the circling pattern is larger to avoid congestion.

Most gals, but not all, like to lead you in slowly.  I think it's so they can thin the herd when they determine who is actually going to show up.

One time, after being directed there, I was parked at a hotel where I had hobbied a couple of times before. A pickup with a single white male in his 50's parked right beside me. About that time my date started hedging about the time of our appointment.  Her other appointment, she said, just arrived and I would have to wait.  Needless to say I left and didn't return.

Maybe, could be one of those, but really I don't know any lovely ladies here that would, reason being, is the first call would be to get some screening information to continue to set up the date and I would hope that would narrow it down also as far as any local friendly government agency slipping in easily, way too easily. JMHO

Maybe I didn't read this thread thoroughly enough; however, who's to say this isn't a new LE tactic?

It's strange no matter the truth.

My advice is to stay away from BP girls.  It's not that they are rip offs or aren't great gals but chances of being bait and switched, duped, mugged, or cheated out of your time is greater with them than ladies who have their own sites or are on 411.  I'm speaking from experience and we here in the Twin Cities have awesome local girls that are hard to beat so enjoy them.
