Yes! They are a great organization.

I lived in San Francisco for a tiny little minute when I was younger and was highly impressed by SWOP. If I lived there now I would be much more involved with them. They sponsor a huge sex worker film, art & music festival every year which is absolutely amazing. Anyone who ever gets the chance to go should. They also created the international "End Violence Against Sex Workers" day (the symbol for it is a red umbrella.. guess where I got the inspiration for my tattoo? )

Aside from SF, they also have branches in North Carolina, Chicago, and New York I believe (as well as internationally) - I've also heard rumor about a possible branch here in MN. It would be nice to have a progressive organization here to combat the likes of the "Violent Offenders Task Force" as well as the pathetic propaganda of our local anti-prostitution group Breaking Free. Of course, it's hard to drum up interest in a fringe cause like ours when we live in a state that doesn't even fully recognize basic no-brainers like gay rights.... but that's another box of worms.
