SWOP is a front line organization who's members are out there fighting for the rights of sex workers and the legalization of sex work. These are the folks who get their noses bloodied, get spat upon and get called names while they're out fighting in the streets for you and me. They do it for free because they strongly believe in what they do. Recently, they were nearly successful in getting private sexwork legalized in San Francisco.
I was feeling kinda icky and had this kind of creepy crawly under the skin can't quite place it discomfort feeling come over me. I realized I hadn't donated to SWOP in several months. I made a donation and I'm feeling FUCKIN' FINE! In fact, I believe I'm gonna go and dance NAKED in my back yard!!
This is a great organization to support Sex Work and Sex Workers. Could you please help?

Oops! In my zeal I forgot to include a link.

I lived in San Francisco for a tiny little minute when I was younger and was highly impressed by SWOP. If I lived there now I would be much more involved with them. They sponsor a huge sex worker film, art & music festival every year which is absolutely amazing. Anyone who ever gets the chance to go should. They also created the international "End Violence Against Sex Workers" day (the symbol for it is a red umbrella.. guess where I got the inspiration for my tattoo? :))

Aside from SF, they also have branches in North Carolina, Chicago, and New York I believe (as well as internationally) - I've also heard rumor about a possible branch here in MN. It would be nice to have a progressive organization here to combat the likes of the "Violent Offenders Task Force" as well as the pathetic propaganda of our local anti-prostitution group Breaking Free. Of course, it's hard to drum up interest in a fringe cause like ours when we live in a state that doesn't even fully recognize basic no-brainers like gay rights.... but that's another box of worms.

Anyway their main site is linked below. There's a place to donate to them on the front page!

there's alot of work to be done if you're good at organizing data or if you're creative with flyers, poetry, etc.

everyone in swop-usa is a volunteer.
