This week the supreme court will take up a case that may determine to what extent a government can enact laws based purely on moral grounds. If the law is deemed unconstitutional on these grounds the ramifications will be significant. For one it will lay the foundation for making all (or most) states laws against prostitution unconstitutional. States, Counties, and Cities would then be in a position where they could legislate commercial aspects of prostitution, but not outlaw it entirely. It would also provide for a scape-goat for many legislators to just allow current laws to go black thus effecting the decrim of prostitution.
