Reloadable cards have strict limits until you activate the card and your identity is verified. Once the card is activated and your identity is verified, the limits are more liberal. It becomes more like a regular bank credit card with additional fees for various services and will not appear on your credit report. The limits vary from issuer to issuer.
I was just browsing some other boards and some responses or updates caught my eye. I have not tried yet but it appears TER has found some prepaid credit cards that actually might work with CCBill or SegPay.
If anyone tries, please report results for the rest of the guys out there. I don't have need for sometime, otherwise I would have.
I would advise to strictly purchase cards from the locations in the links below.
These cards probably need to be activated first. I would suggest activating online using an IP address which is not your normal one if you are concerned about a paper trail and other potential issues. If you are only worried about your wife, so or gf ruffling through your statements and asking questions; then I wouldn't worry too much about using a different IP address.
Use an anonymous name and address just like you would do with a go-phone. When signing up with CCBill or SegPay, make sure you use the same name, address and Zip Code that you used when activating your card.
Hope this helps and anyone who tries, please report to the rest.
I believe someone else could purchase a VIP membership for you. The gifter would need access to your account and would need to purchase once logged in to your account.
You might need to clarify with admin however by clicking the "Contact Us" link at the bottom.
If it is another TER member, be prepared to inform admin that you had requested said member to sign you up for VIP membership for discretionary reasons. Otherwise you both might get banned for using the same IP address.
Both Reloadable (GreenDot) and Non Reloadable cards are both classified as PrePaid.
Reloadable cards have strict limits and eventually have to be activated with a real name and SS Number.
Non Reloadable cards are usually available for one time fixed amounts anywhere from $25 - $500. Once the funds are used, the card is useless. These cards usually require "registration" for online purchases otherwise a transaction can be declined. In most cases, registration involves a simple Zip Code verification but verification of real name, address and SSN is never required unlike Reloadable cards.
To the best of my knowledge GreenDot verified (Real Name, Address, SSN) Reloadable cards are eligible for use with international transactions, all other are not. The law regarding these was changed last year and it has caused issues for those requiring additional privacy and less of a paper trail when purchasing VIP memberships as both SegPay and CCBill are both internationally based.

So I just bought two different prepaid Visa cards...one issued by Vanilla and the other is a Green Dot. Both have been rejected when I tried to buy a VIP membership. When I called to investigate why, at least with the tree dot card, they said that purchases were not allowed from "that country." So, TER...how can I upgrade with a prepaid card? Any suggestions?
Unfortunately it looks like your attempt to purchase VIP membership has failed due to your card being declined. Good news is that we have several other payment options that you could try.
