Your point is?

You are missing my point.  What are you saying by posting this?   You made a statement with no opinion.  Out of the millions of text messages are sent every hour, someone cares to read yours?

So, anyone that uses an alias and questions your opinion is a troll?

You can be a troll without an alias also.:) I'm not saying you are a troll but her point was obvious to me. We need to be careful how we use our text messaging etc.!

You know, even though the article referenced is 7.5 years old, I understood the intent of the post - but I truly thought this was common knowledge and hardly "news" but what do I know - maybe many others weren't aware of this.  My attempt to get around this is to use a google voice number that is tied to a fictitious email account - but that probably isn't very effective either.  We've been in a digital age for years now where nothing is temporary.  Hell, even old copiers have hard drives full of digital scans used in the copying process that often don't get deleted before they are sold.

Thanks for the link, it confirmed what I always kinda expected.  As far as the snapperhead that questioned the point (alias boy), nobody will probably ever want Heart's text records, or mine or even yours, however, the lawyer representing the wife of a busted hobbyist may very well be interested in getting his/her hands on this information as well as LE busting a providor and pulling the last 2 years of her text history and datebase of cellular contacts.  DUH!

I believe text messages are typically not kept for that long before they get deleted off the servers.  However, deleted is a relative term; deleting something on a computer typically means the location of a particular piece of data is erased but the data itself can remain longer until something else actually overwrites it.

Of course, just because it is still out there on a computer does not mean it is that easy to find.  Can LE discover this data if it still exists?  Yes, if they want to go to the trouble of getting the appropriate warrants and then if the data has been deleted they would need specialists to see if it can be recovered.  It's not as easy as they make it look on TV and the movies.  But it can be done if they want the info badly enough.

I am aware of a provider that was recently busted & what is the 1st thing the relieved her of? Her cell phone. She set up the appt. w/ LE via text messaging & lo & behold, in it was the incriminating evidence they needed to successfully convict her. End of story.

I won't disclose who she is. I can assure you she is not a threat to anyone. Please do not bother asking for additional info about her.

Safe wishes to all!

Why didn't you just tell us this in the first place, instead of belittling a questioner?

Why the alias for me? I don't want PM's from you telling me how to do shit.

Because I don't think it is necessary to disclose motives for providing information that I believe may be helpful in staying safe in the Hobby Community. Most people don't need the whys spelled out to them. Is that a good enough answer for you? That is what these boards are supposed to be about. HELPING one another stay safe. Next question, or obnoxious alias remark?????????????????

And here I thought you weren't going to respond to aliases.

Shit, I am just not lucky today.

Here's a few more comments for you to chew on while you're stroking that limp dick of yours Mr. Alias NOBODY. It seems to me you have a problem with ladies offering information that may be motivated by her actually giving two shits about people involved in the hobby. I apologize! I have been doing it all wrong, all this time. I will try harder in the future to become that young spinner that cares about nothing more than how many Bennies she can rack up in a day, while making you wait in a parking lot for 30 minutes or more, only to finally open the door for you to discover I am not the gal in the pics, then announce that $$$ is limited to a lame CBJ, a pimp barging in & robbing you, or LE slapping hand cuffs around your wrists. & I don't mean hand cuffing you to the bed post! WTF have I been thinking?!

it is so wonderful to have you watching out for our well-being.
Actually no one questioned your post.  Somebody asked for clarification- and you go frigging off the deep end.

You do show your true colors and your distain for anyone's opinion other than your own.  And, they are opinions.

And this comment is surely mean-spirited  "Here's a few more comments for you to chew on while you're stroking that limp dick of yours Mr. Alias NOBODY".

I do not think that anywhere in this tread that anyone one, alias or not, gets nasty like you did.

Have a nice day. Relax, take a deep breath. Isn't that better now?

As with any form of communication, especially written, its what was communicated that got her in trouble not how it was done.  I am guessing it got too explicit and there was a rate quoted.

The title was originally to be "is the Message ..." but the printer made a typo, which McLuhan decided he liked even better.
