It's very unnerving that she has my cell number, knows that I hobby, and I have no idea how the hell she got any of that info.

never happened before... got a text from a number I do not recognize saying, "we met a month ago thru another girl I work with... wanna meet and have some fun?" ... etc.   of course, I ask who the friend is and it's a name i totally do not recognize.  then she texts me her pic... I dont remember ever seeing her.  I ask for more info on our mutual "friend" like where we met, what she looks like, etc.  She gives me nothing.  Just keeps hounding me "it doesn't matter, don't you want to have fun?"  needless to say, I let her know NO WAY if you can't verify who referred you.

My conclusions...

1. she stole someone's phone and is trying to steal their customers
2. someone's phone has fallen into the hands of LE who are trying to entrap
3. this girl is just a dumbass

LE wouldn't go to that much trouble

is #1 AND #3.

By the way, you could have stopped responding to her earlier than you did.  I'm not being critical of you.  I'm curious myself, and sometimes it's not a good idea.

My rule of thumb is that if I don't know you or recognize your number I don't answer any text or phone call. If you leave a message I'll decide if I will return the call. In this scenario no way would I have given any indication that I received anything.

Hopefully it's just a #3 but no way would I want to answer a text like that.  Unsolicited contact like that is very indiscreet.

I agree if I get anything like that I would just delete the number after performing a quick Google search of the number. But I wouldn't respond to the text at all. Hopefully you are using a throwaway that you can change numbers or a soft phone that you can dump the number easily.
