As a cost-conscious consumer, I typically look for deals, or specials.  Often, in other market segments, I find these deals during the slow season.

I would expect that the slow season for escorts would be between X-Mas and Springtime, at least here in Mpls.  Yet, I don't see very many specials.

Does that strike anyone else as a bit odd?

Kimberlie just ran a special and also had one in December.  There are other gals.

The sense I am getting is that things in the industry are a little slower than providers would like.  Another indicator is the number of providers who visit our fair city, there seems to be a higher than normal number of visiting providers.  Considering that (i) the weather sucks this time of year and (ii) a lot of potential customers travel south, an uptick in visitors is all the more remarkable.

I could name them but that might be considered out-of-bounds shilling.  

Oh wait... you mean specials as in, a special rate!  Check all the ads, TER and elsewhere, I bet you'll find some.

As for me, I'll stick with the other kind of "specials".  

I guess it depends on what you are looking for in a session.

Just today I saw an ad offering a mystery special, which would be added service or time at her discretion.  

Ladies that offer repeat specials, discounts on longer sessions.   Then simply looking at the last page of new reviews I saw good rates whether they were specials or not.  45 min 80 fs and 30 min 120 fs so really there are ladies in all price ranges.

As  regular I have been offered outstanding specials 1 hr paid date came with the lady willing to do dinner on me and a round of golf on me.  So all total we spent 8 hrs together for $$$ plus expenses

How about a 24 hour b-day special for 750.

Weekend special of Friday 4PM tp Sunday Midnight for 2k

Now if you are talking retail store type xmas specials you are right.  You probably won't see the majority of ladies offering 10-50% off all at once..

Also, are you sure it's a lack pf specials or a lack of specials by the ones you want to see?

I have heard summer is the slow season and I took advantage of tons of specials in the summer and early fall. They pop up all year if you look but summer seemed to be the most.

I believe, like you, most consumers are looking for deals/specials around Xmas & Springtime, but for providers this is a tricky (no pun intended) area of biz dealings.
One thing guys might or tend to forget, is that providers have family too. Although there are those few that don't have family & can/will command their full rate plus a hefty tip. The holidays for some (not all) is like getting time and a half, so there is no reason to offer a special or discount around the holidays. Me personally, I work during the holidays & never have to offer specials or discounts.

Xmas eve & Xmas day is spent with family, so trying to get away for 2+ hrs is pretty difficult to do. I believe it can be done, if you have that much time to spare, but most ladies with kids, that much time away is not possible. Specials & deals might be difficult to come across, but thy can be found.

Xmas & before/after Springtime are my busiest times, not sure about others, so for me your theory is incorrect.
