I was wondering about the relative safety of the ads in the City Pages - there are more than a few I'd like to investigate but a sinking feeling always keeps me from calling.  Am I being overly paranoid, or is my fear warranted?  I wish there was a magic test one could run via phone.  

While there's definetly something to be said for the TOFTT approach I'm wondering if there are "warning signs" a person should be able to spot, either by phone or upon arrival.

and have "taken a few for the team - but mostly, good honest value

My advice is to NOT see any girl that:
-- posts specific services in her ad
-- any reference to price that includes the words "starting at"
-- has the tag-line in her ad "msg/dom/fant." in her ad (massage/domination/fantacy)
-- any ad that you can find the phone number listed more than once in the city pages line ads (It's ok if the have one pic ad and one line ad though)
-- STAY AWAY from "Shannon/Heidie/Summer/Erica" (all the same girl) - do a search on this board for her and you'll see why!
-- Don't leave messages when girls don't pick-up.
-- Use a prepaid phone ALWAYS!
-- Be prepaired to lose you money and leave if things don't "smell right" when you get there.
-- DON'T invite them to your house!

Yes the advice from the honorable Ben Dover here is right on the mark.  Case in point that gal that calls herself Shannon/Heidie/Summer/Erica has been running her scam for a long time.  Us locals are on to her but our brothers from out of town haven't a clue they're gonna get taken.

- ask for a description of herself - if all you get is a vague one - move on.
- listen to her tone and attitude.  My experience has been the best if its someone who sounds cheerful, yet not over the top and too eager
- if you hear the words - "I have never had any complaints" - move on
- if you ask her if she is full service and get a non-answer - move on
- if she is at a motel in the Brooklyn Park area - move on
- if its an agency - move on
- if its more than $200 - move on.  Any girl who thinks she is worth more and gets it would have her own web page or have photo ads on EROS.  
- only see incalls at a decent hotel - NEVER go to her appt.  

Happy pussy hunting - its like fishing - you'll have good days and bad days.  hopefully the good ones outnumber the bad ones.  hopefully you get more skilled knowing where to fish as you gain experience.  but then its the hunt and the anticipation, and that gem you find once in a while that makes it fun.  

And often my dick or my wallet has paid dearly for it too! LOL!

The ads in City Pages are really hit and miss.  It's a gamble, I have had some good time and some bad times!
However, I would dispute the rule about not going to someone's apartment.  I have always had better luck at someone's apartment or house, than when they are in a room at a hotel.

You are right.  Its about the odds IMHO.  I too have had some great times with ladies who work out of an appt.  (Cheryl, Myrissa, Britney)  These were all ladies who had an appt that is only used when working - for their own safety purposes.  But then these were also ladies with well established reputations.  

My advice was in response to the "safety" issue, purely in the context of not knowing anything about the lady in a TCU or Citypages line ad.  There are two risks to beware of with respect to visiting an UNKNOWN provider's appt:

1) Getting held up or mugged by the boyfriend, or having your car broke into while the girlfriend keeps you occupied  2) LE responds to neighbors who complain about the suspicious behavior next door when there are lots of men visiting for only an hour or so.  You probably
won't get busted but then who wants to be associated with the situation even remotely - she could be keeping records or they could dump the phone numbers off her cell.  

I have had close calls with both.  Situation #1 happened at an appt building - had left my cell phone in the car - car was broken into and my cell phone was gone.  It was the middle of the day.  Could have been a coincidence but then I had seen a guy sitting in his car nearby when I had driven up.

Situation #2 happened to a lady I had booked an appt with by email.  When I showed up at the appointed time, noone home.  The next day I got an email from her letting me know she got raided that morning. A neighbor had complained.  Shit, who wants to be on camera if the neighborhood watch patrol is active or if LE is watching a place.  Scared the shit out of me.  

A hotel with INSIDE room entrances is far more discreet.
