I was pondering that this morning while I waited for a suitor who didn't appear for a "cock crow" rendezvous.  ;-)

Typically I am an owl...not an early riser.  I simply never have been.  I like the quiet of the late evening and the peaceful moments after midnight when there are no stirrings and all is silent.  I like to indulge in guilty pleasures like sipping a favorite deep red vintage or a spicy cup of hot chai.  Fresh from a long fragrant bath and nestled in soft warm flannel sheets and a down comforter, the scent of lavender wafting from a nearby candle, my "fireplace" crackling away and a pink shaded antique lamp casting a soft glow...I enjoy getting lost in the velvet hours with a good book or film.  In recent weeks I finished watching the last season of Downton Abbey.  :-)  Sometimes it is a risque' little film and a favorite plaything that arouses the flame and sends me off into peaceful slumber.

And you...?

I get most of my chores done in the morning.  If I can relax a bit in the afternoon.
By 10 I'm ready for some shut eye.

In years gone by I was an owl, worked several third shift jobs, DJing on the weekends.

Now I'm more of a lark - waiting for warmer temps so I can be outside running in the still before dawn.

Sometimes a nicely breasted swallow will bring out the owl in me.

And got more pronounced in my 60s. I try to beat the morning light, but it's tough in summer.

I can be out on the town and get home at midnight (late for me) and be up and at em by 7. If I crash early, 5 am is normal for me. Kind of depends on how the cock crows!

I like to get up early, whic appened after 40, but I enjoy the quiet time of late night, especially with someone to "share it with" if you catch my drift.

LOVE to be a Swallow!   I need frequent swallow miles.....   hehehehe

Back to OP.....   I'm an Owl, for sure.   but I'm more productive pretending to be a Lark.

Have to go deep sometimes.
For a while too.
Sometimes it takes a long time to get there.
At times it's just a quick round of pecking to get the job done. :)

I guess I burn the candle at both ends.  I am usually up before 5am and very seldom get to bed before midnight or 1 am.

And speaking of swallows, I love them as well as the delightfully lovely tits.

What bird comes to mind when you think of strength?

(Most people will say "eagle.")

What bird comes to mind when you think of wisdom?

(Most will say "owl.")

What bird comes to mind when you think of love?

(Most will say "dove.")

And what bird comes to mind when you think of TRUE love?!

SWALLOW.

hehe

Finally awake and just for giggles, this oldie-but-goodie came to mind:

The Owl and the Pussycat - 1871 - by Edward Lear

The Owl and the Pussy-Cat went to sea
In a beautiful pea-green boat:
They took some honey,
and plenty of money
Wrapped up in a five-pound note.

The Owl looked up to the stars above,
And sang to a small guitar,
"O lovely Pussy, O Pussy, my love,
What a beautiful Pussy you are ..."

I just recited that the other night for a friend of mine!  I memorized the whole thing several years ago...

Pussy said to the owl "You elegant fowl!  How charmingly sweet you sing!
Too long we have tarried oh let us be married but what shall we do for a ring?"
So they sailed away for a year and a day to the land where the bong tree grows,
And there in a wood, a piggy wig stood with a ring at the end of his nose his nose
With a ring at the end of his nose!

I love it.  But what pray tell, is a runcible spoon?
