Could be to ensure you show up.
a few ladies require deposits now when traveling .
Can't blame them from what I've read it can be expensive to travel only to have multiple cancellation or NCNS's.

She should get a Paypal account for deposits.

Wire transfers are costly and involve dislclosure of account number and real name. Plus, there's room for real slippage.

Don't do it! Here is why....

There is a well reviewed touring provider out there that is scamming guys with fake tours.

This is what is happening.....

1. She advertises on the board about her tour

2. Waits for guys to book and then requests a money transfer as deposit

3. The day before or of the tour, she will send an email that her tour is cancelled for unknown reasons but when guys inquire about their deposits, she simply ignores them and the they never hear back from her again.

Here is the catch. Minneapolis was actually on her tour schedule posted on her website for late September.

Here are the links to the provider who is well known to to be scamming guys with the deposit trick. She has removed Minneapolis from her tour schedule since the last time I visited her site.

Still trying to find out if there is any warning posts remaining on the other boards about her.

My case was not with this scammer but the same con could be pulled by anyone.

And isn't rule #1 that if your instincts tell you something's fishy to walk away?

Nor should you be expected to. There's a bunch of different scams around and what I dislike is that it doesn't get reported as much as it should, idk if it's because hobbyists are embarrassed (which they should never be) or if they just don't know where to do it. It's very sad that this happens on both sides of the hobby.

Like I've said there are legit providers with fantastic reputations that do ask for partial payment up front but this type of scam ruins it for them .

I really hate this kind of shit.

It makes it impossible to ask for a deposit upfront (even for a longer date or one that requires traveling) since if a well-reviewed provider scams people, it makes other people think "why would this one be any different?"

And since I get tons of cancellations all the time, there's is virtually no way to ensure someone will actually show up for a longer and/or more expensive appointment that I've rearranged my life and schedule to accommodate. Also makes it hard to request a deposit upfront once I've been cancelled on in order to reschedule another date.

So lame. FigurePower is a lousy crook.

But If I have to Travel OUT to another state , I do require a deposit.
but if you are traveling to me, Why would I require a Deposit,

I'll help when asked...

I see someone now that I think I can pretty much trust. She's asked me for an 'advance' from time to time and I've done it and never been screwed over..... yet. I have her account info, so I'll just swing by the bank and make a deposit. It's also how I'll pay sometimes after a nice long weekend with her.

Unusual situation... but so far so good.
