I'd love to keep up on the MN Hobby community but I am afraid of anything bleeding over to civilian life. I assume you all have different hobby Twitter accounts. Do you read tweets on your phone or do you just check twitter on your hobby laptop?

Have known a couple of providers with a social media presence - people seem to complain a lot, so be prepared to be blocked as a spammer or for 'encouraging illegal activity' if you mention anything related to the hobby.

That said, Tumblr has the most lenient policy on nudity, so that might be the best place to start, especially if you've considered erotic/art modeling.

I mostly check on my phone. But I mostly keep my civie twitter account active in case anybody looks. Not sure about Apple but the twitter app for android allows u to switch between twitter accounts very easily

A lot of what ive seen is pretty subjective. Let me explain if you are spamming u will get reported thus account blocked. If you are following nonhobby friendly individuals and sending them inapropriate tweets, you will get reported and blocked.

If yiur going to have a hobby twitter account keep it hobby relevant in every aspect dont let any personal stuff bleed over. Just my opinion

Nothing is perfect or fool proof but yes keeping it all separate is a skill well used in this biz ... Thank you for the remind

But is there more of an opportunity for LE to infiltrate or observe activities in a much more public space?  I'm thinking about twitter and Facebook.
Maybe it's because I don't use either that I wonder if it is a safe place to play.

Just wondering

Social media can screw things up in a hurry. If I had more to lose or If I used FB and twitter in my personal life, I think I would avoid using them for hobby purposes. I'm not too worried about the LE aspect of it. Except for this http://www.nbcnews.com/technology/careful-what-you-tweet-police-schools-tap-social-media-track-4B11215908

... accessible to anyone, even stored forever in the Library of Congress... tweet away!

So, if you are not very careful, you could easily see things bleeding over from your hobby Facebook to your regular Facebook and vice-versa.  I don't know if Twitter does the same but I would assume so until proven otherwise.

When setting up my twitter accounts my profile has nothing that is true or relevant to my real life. other than my profile pic I like to ski. There for, if Twitter decides to data mine and do profile correlations nothing will match my professional twitter account. Also when tweeting, think before u tweet don't disclose things that are too personal like things about family, profession, your life outside the hobby, identifying pics etc... If your going to say something personal to a companion use DM (direct message) and not a public tweet.

Twittter is the most transparent social media platform there is so just use common sense and have fun. I would stay off Facebook, those guys have some wizard data mining fools at the level of google.

If your too paranoid you should not be using google ever cus they track everything, and dont think incognito or private browsing mode will cover your tracks. Use duck duck go its a true search engine that tracks nothing. TWEET AWAY
