I was stationed in Fort Gordon and was finishing a color guard ceremony for Memorial Day wearing my full dress class A uniform carrying a huge American flag and some lady stops me to ask first if I am American, to which I answer yes, then she then asks if I speak English even though I just answered her question in English with no accent. I wish I was more creative like this lady in the video but I just laughed and said "no hablo ignoroso" and she drove off.

...... part-Haitian having to explain i'm American (born in D.C.) really.  "Where are you from" question has come up a lot even though I've never spoke of being born in another country or being raised somewhere foreign like ladies who have do. I don't practice Voudon and my command of Haitian Kreyol/Creole is sh*tty :) (don't expect much conversation out of me past "sak pase" lmao)....don't speak french to me either (just because someone can speak Haitian Creole doesn't mean they understand regular French) lol.
