A former assistant Hennepin County attorney was taken into custody Thursday after admitting to violating his probation for convictions related to promoting prostitution.

XXXX, 69, of Minneapolis admitted before Ramsey County District Judge XXXX that he accessed the Internet for sexual content, failed to provide the probation department with full access to his computers and acquired two additional computer towers that he used to surf the Internet without tracking software.

He was sentenced Thursday to two years and four months in a community care home of the Minnesota Department of Corrections, rather than a prison facility, because of his medical state.

XXXX pleaded guilty in November 2010 to three felony counts of promoting prostitution, arranging for so-called "nice guys" who were safe and would pay well to buy sex from women. In exchange, he would get free or reduced-price sexual services.

He initially was sentenced to 15 years' probation.

Last month, representatives of the Department of Corrections told XXXX that XXXX was too medically fragile for prison. A quadriplegic since he contracted polio at age 8, he breathes with a ventilator and needs 24-hour care.

XXXX told him she was revoking his probation because of his "repeated" violations.
Although the crimes took place in Minneapolis, Ramsey County handled the case to avoid a potential conflict of interest

For him I hope some of the attendants in the care facility are both attractive and "attentive".

I had the opportunity to meet the "ringleader" of the Minnesota Nice Guys in late 2007. After the fall, I wondered how he would relate to life without computer access and interaction to this "thing" we refer to as the hobby. Unfortunately, it appears that he has not adjusted portions of his behavior to conform to the terms of the probationary sentence.

It's absolutely ridicules.   He's an adult doing what he does by choice.  Looking at pictures is not hurting anyone and even if he hooked up with a lady, as long as it is by her choice, who really cares.  Two years 4 months .......ridiculous.

Yet, a woman who prostituted her developmentally disabled daughter gets 6 months. (chronological age 19 but the mind of a 5-6 year old.....obviously NOT her choice to become pregnant by a John)

Agreed BB. I've been tracking that case. As an advocate, & aunt of a mentally disabled niece as well as a mother of 5 daughters My blood boils everytime I get an updated alert. I just don't get the system at times.

I'm with Belinda and Leeanne, leave the guy alone. We all look at pictures of beautiful women (or men, in some cases), its why we do what we do. He might have been looking up some provider friends he knew in the past, just to see what they were doing, who knows

I'm in total agreement.  I think he's gone through quite enough as it is.
 Also it's a bit much for them to expect him to be completely off the internet.  
I think it would of been a better idea had he'd been just sticking with good old fashioned magazines or something.  

i finally agree with one of this poster's posts.  i too have met the gentleman in question, and know that he is knowledgeable enough that he would be aware of the consequences of violating the conditions of his supervised release.

UTNG, if he's not 'sharp' in your eyes, it's probably because he chooses to continue to make the case that hobbying as he conducts it neither injures nor exploits anybody. So, as Belinda says, others should mind their own business as long as nobody is harmed.  He is making a point in our behalf, and I am grateful for it.  

His aim, from the beginning, however naive, was to keep Johns and Janes safe and happy in equal measure.  I think that takes sharpness to a whole other level.

Play safe, play fair, keep the playing field even for both parties. Great way to look at the hobby.

And how difficult it is for LE to do much about it without locking him up (good chance he would die if they did that given his health problems) or in some way having continual surveillance of him.
