"it's terrible news for sex workers, who will lose a measure of safety, and for beat cops, who will now find it harder to crack down on the sex trade"

Yeah but this quote seems contradictory.

So it was great for sex workers but also good for the cops that could bust them with the mere stroke of a mouse click???

Even I questioned that early on too, it can't be good for both of those parties at the same time can it?

sure, it can. depends how you look at it.

Better for the sex workers, as it takes them off the street corners and away from pimps (usually).

Good for cops because it is easy. One stop shopping....just like for the hobbyist.  They shop to arrest...hobbyist shops to play. But it is easy for them. And very visible, very popular...the shear numbers of women who posted there made their jobs easier than walking a beat.

and opened a door.  That is all that they did.  The world still rotates and the hobby will continue.

It might be easier for the cops but I don't know that it made any of the providers more likely to be arrested and even so they might well take that chance for the increased safety from undesirable clients or pimps.
