There was an ad for a gang bang on craigslist.  $50 fee to cover their expenses.  It is at a hotel in xxxxxx, the pic of the girl is hot. Anyone have thoughts on if this is real or should be worried on going to it?

Have you Tineyed the pics and Googled the phone number?  There's lots of things that could go wrong walking into something like that with multiple people about whom you know nothing.

Similar "events" set up through legitimate lifestyle (swinging) sites can have potential. A public posting on CL? Run for the hills!

I have to agree with this. Even if the party posting the ad has the best of intentions, are they inviting just anyone who reads CL to just show up? Is there some screening? I wouldn't even do a one-on-one with someone without checking it here/google the number/ etc first. Inviting multiple parties, you have no idea who's going to show up. I might be overly cautious, but I'm OK with that.

The women are rarely hotties and the pics are many times fake to draw attention.

Many times these gangbangs or swinger parties that are open to the public are usually boyfriends / husbands pimping out their girlfriends / wives and pocketing the extra cash. They call it a gangbang so the girl does not think she is being used as a hooker and objects.

Tineye.com is an image search site.
If the posting was just a hotel and a room number it could very well be just a prank .

Tineye is a website that let's you search the web to see if a picture you find is somewhere else on the internet.  It's not perfect but it has smoked out many a provider using fake pics.

In any event, I would not take a chance on ad such as the one you describe.
