I visited the Mall of America for the first time today and worked up an appetite.  Where are the best local cuisine restaurants?  I like to avoid the chain places.

Even though they are part of a chain both Twin City grill and Tucci Binucci are good. if your at the mall if you want something in a different area there are plenty of other really good ones. Let us know if you're willing to travel

Only imho... Matt's on Cedar for a burger. Ted Cook's 19th Hole on 38th for BBQ, Cosetta's in St Paul for iti deli (or Broder's) on 50th in mpls), Morton's in the basement of Nicollet mall for a steak although TC Grill is good too if you're near the mall. What'd I miss?

I agree, Matt's for a juicy lucky and Boca Chica for Mexican although the little hole in the walls along Central Ave are fantastic.  Bar La Grassa for upscale dining; Freehouse is a brew pub with an interesting, eclectic menu; Red Cow for upscale burgers.  too many places to mention.  Check out City Pages for restaurant reviews.
