At least that is the disclaimer you see at the bottom of femme dom BDSM ads. But apparently the police don't think so.

Last time I tried to post a link to the article my post was denied because it had some of her personal info in it (oops - my bad), so this time I will just copy and paste the article here, deleting such info from the article.

The article  -

Woman Accused Of Running Stillwater 'Sex Dungeon' STILLWATER, Minn.
Washington County Sheriff's Office

A Stillwater woman has been arrested under suspicion that she solicited prostitution, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

The sheriff's office said 41-year-old (Name deleted), also known as (Name deleted), was arrested at a home on (in stillwater - exact address deleted).

The St. Paul Pioneer Press reported that investigators believe the self-described "Taboo Goddess" operated a "Taboo Dungeon" in the home, where men paid her $150 an hour to perform dominatrix services.

Authorities said they found six homemade pieces of bondage furniture. They started surveillance on the home last month after receiving complaints from neighbors.

(Her) 14 year old daughter, (Name deleted), was struck and killed by lightning in 2009. She was playing outside the family's old home on (address deleted) in Stillwater.

End of article.

How the hell can they do this to her? Domination isn't prostitution, after all. I have seen "Taboo Goddess" before, she was a backpage staple in the DOM section, and she was legit, and she most definitely did not offer sex, that much I am sure of. She wouldn't agree to anything even remotely close to it - in my experience. She was plain and simple a dominatrix, and nothing more. How can she be arrestd for that?

Hell, if you go to a popular club called Ground Zero in NE MPLS on some nights you can watch a live BDSM show, where a well known local domme performs on willing members of the crowd, sometimes there is even nudity involved. I don't see the police running to kick their doors down and hall them off to jail. What gives here? Are they just making up the law as they go along?

I hope she fights this and doesn't let them scare her into copping a plea. This is bullshit.

But according to them there were no sex charges.  The officer who did the interview stated that the neighborhood was concerned because she was running her dungeon near a jr. highschool.  Aslo her home was drawing attention to itself because many different men were coming and going.  And that is why cops were notified in the first place.
They had a warrant to search her home and were allowed to conviscate all of her business equipment but not because it was a sex crime the officer said that the lady was not arrested based on sex charges.
She was taken in because it is illegal to operate a business out of your home in Stillwater with out a permit.  It doesn't matter what the business is.  She needed a permit to run it out of her home.  This she did not have.

They will look for an angle whenever possible, they also said some guys leaving said she offered sex services...a friendly reminder you never have to talk.

I don't think the guys leaving the home said she offered sex services but that they just paid money for her services. I think all they will be able to charge her with is Zoning Violations.

I hope she beats it.  Its too bad one can't have a home based business with out having to pay more friggin money to the government.  A scam to suck us dry and prevent people from earning a living doing something they enjoy.

While I understand your concern about not being able to run a business out of your home without a permit, there are reasons for it. Hang on and hear me out before you scream.  :)  Having spent many years in local government; cities have valid reasons for requiring a permit to run a business out of your home: (1) the business may adversely impact traffic in a residential neighborhood; (2) hours of operation may not be conducive to residences; (3) the type of business may not be appropriate for the area...etc.  That being said, permits should be granted if the above concerns (or others I failed to mention) are addressed. Cities or counties should not wrongfully refuse to issue permits to businesses that will not adversely impact the neighborhood. Yes, the people have a right to run a business almost wherever they please, but likewise their neighbors have a right to their residential neighborhood.
