I"m sure men are as bad if not worse at this than ladies.  And I expect to get blasted for saying this, but I"ve never done it without an explnation.  DO WHAT YOU SAY YOUIR GOING TO!  If you say you are going to contact a guy, by whatever means.  Do it!
