Lately I was considering the option of requesting supplies to supplement cash during these uncertain times. If I had a supply wish list filled with over-the-counter goods I can't access due to low stock would you be willing to consider bartering? I've been pondering this because travel is limited and I'm spending money on prepping anyway. What do you guys think? Some of you may have some of the things I'm looking for just laying around the house.

What do we need to prep for other than if we get the bug and have to self-quarantine for a couple weeks.  In the Twin City area you can get groceries delivered -- if you nave no friends or relatives to do that.  I bet a lot of restaurants will supply takeout.
.
I did stock up on a few more packages of spaghetti noodles and canned tomato sauce.  I'm good for at least a month trapped indoors.

What do you mean "...I'm spending money on prepping anyway." ?

I'm doing those things as well while staying healthy but I'm worried about potential long-term quarantine scenarios, overrun hospitals and low supplies. Just thought I'd mention it to see if there was interest. I'm compiling a list.

I think you are a smart lady. This just isn't about the virus but what is happening in the financial markets. I fear we may have run out of time to prep.

If clients can help you with supplies you need with stuff we happen to have or can get easily, it seems like a practical thing to do.  Maybe some of your clients have better mobility and access to supplies than you do.

Although getting supplies can be tough these days!  This weekend there was no hand sanitizer, TP, paper towels and very little in the way of cold/flu meds in any store near me. Some people were going hog wild on hoarding.

We have to adjust to cope with this situation, and your idea is one way to do that.

I live modestly and can seriously consider accepting a mix of supplies and cash. I've never been known to be materialistic but I'm very interested in building supplies to-a-point while buggin-in and then bugging-out when the weather warms up if this situation continues to get worse.

Funds are going towards survival supplies and safety precautions.

I am thinking ahead like you are. I live in a rural area so that may be an advantage but am doing what I can to prepare. Because they shut things down for two weeks doesn't mean it is all over after that. This could be much worse in a couple of weeks.

I agree that this could go on for awhile. Having multiple contingency plans seems best.

The numbers in the U.S. are starting to grow quickly and in line with the projections.  But because of the lack of testing in this country there are likely a lot of people out there have been exposed and have no idea.  Even if the nation basically shut down right now, the number of cases will continue to grow rapidly for a while.

I'm not hoarding but merely having some things to live on until skipping town with a well-packed bag if things look bad. I worry more about hostile environments when people can't access the uppers and opiates they're used to having. That reality seems worse than the pandemic. Maybe all the closed-up shops are actually pop-up labs in an effort to mitigate that reality?

I respect you for your initiative to plan ahead. I am worried about the same thing that you are.

I sure hope it never gets to that.
