Her point was that this is a discussion board and everyone has a right to their opinion.  Take a look at the number of "likes" for both opinions on the post below and you'll note that each has it's supporters. Without choosing sides I think the name calling and rude posts were the main target of her post and both side were guilty of that. We, members of this hobby, of all people should be tolerant do others. Why can't we allow differing opinions, why must we try to belittle or shout down other members for not agreeing with us?  Are we really that closed minded as a group.

Unfortunately sometimes it seems the fuel that runs this board is the lift that some people get when someone expresses his opinion on this forum and they happen to disagree.  Remember everyone you don't have to read it if you don't like it.  And on most issues there is no black and white.

Vostro could have expressed his opinion without the cheap shot. We do value the freedom to disagree on the board; that is everyone's right. But what is the point of the cheap comment?
Shilling is part of the weekly activity, disagreeing can be as well.....why take it to juvenile level?

1)  It is a discussion board.  And when you post on it you do have to accept that people may reply to disagree with you.
2)  His post was hostile to the existence of the thread.  Now, if a good case could be made that the thread was trouble (ex: it revealed personal information), that would be one things.  That clearly doesn't apply here.  We've got 25 threads on every page of this discussion board.  No one should expect that all threads should be of interest to them.  There are plenty that I find of no interest or may even be annoying personally for some reason.  I just ignore them and read something else.

The assumption is that the "Vostro" comments were written by a hobbyist.

Whether or not he made a cheap shot or not, jumping on the cheap shot bandwagon makes everyone else "getting even" with cheap shots back. It was a bad show, and as a provider, I'm saying, once again, that we are all watching this tennis match and it was a big *facepalm*

Just saying that grown men can show some decorum when responding instead of picking up the shot and slinging it back.

Let's not speculate again like with the other thing that was going on a while back... Didn't help any of us at all.

I also fully understand the folly of foolish bickering — Twain said "Never argue with a fool, onlookers may not be able to tell the difference." My "general comment" on the discussion was, I feel, accurate. Some people choose to be disagreeable — and boost their ego by diminishing others. Sadly, it's not all that uncommon these days.

Good point.  Maybe it is a provider that for some reason has been mentioned on the Friday Shill and is upset about it.

You are correct!  We should not assume this is a Guy.  We probably also should not assume that this entity is an actual participant in the hobby!  And so we should not allow our ourselves to get all exercised by his/her comments.

I think it is really just a term people use when they have nothing intelligent to say.

Even as a younger lad, I was always a lover and not a fighter. All the guys would end up fighting someone by the end of the night and I always had my choice of women to bring home.

Responding to a troll by going to his or her level is usually exactly what they want.
