For me,, if a gentleman contacts me and our schedules dont meet up right away,, I ENCOURAGE pre-screening for a future appointment.. and he goes into a yes file, that way when our schedules do align, I can give an immediate yes and not require the advanced notice 
I think its as simple as sending an email to the ladies on your TDL and letting them know thats what you are looking for.. as long as you are polite and respectful with your request I would see no reason its in poor taste

I think your approach and thoughts are perfect- it is a fantastic idea to get prescreened since at times it can take a whole day, sometimes 2, depending upon many variables.
With the prescreening out of the way, it really does help scheduling a meeting a breeze, in my experience. I receive these prescreen requests often, and appreciate it. P411 has an option for you to send a prescreen form for this very reason. Please note a P411 membership is not necessary, as you can simply email the lady who captures your interest. It is, however,one of their many great features.
Simply fill out the ladies contact form on her site & submit it ahead of time. A few weeks is wonderful, although in my experience a week is sufficient. Speaking only for myself, this works wonderfully and if you have an idea when you'll be in town, you can give your lady an idea of when that may be so you can be sure she will be available during that time, and doesn't have travel plans or is taking time off during your trip.

So I'm somewhat of a hobby novice. I used to see a different caliber of ladies that basically did LE check at the door. I've since upgraded to women who do indepth screening which is a nice change totally different hobby experience. The old adage you get what you pay for really does apply in the hobby.
My profession requires me to travel frequently and my schedule is often unpredictable. Is it in poor taste to ask for pre screening without knowing exactly when I plan to commit to a date. (I would be upfront about my schedule so to be respectful of their time)
I see ladies that tour will often prescreen a couples weeks out before their arrival in a city. I guess I'm asking to do the same thing. There are so many wonderful ladies in mn I'd love to visit I'd like to get screened and when my schedule permits be able to schedule on fairly short notice within 24 to 36 hrs. If I wait till the last minute the screening process sometimes takes too long and my window of opportunity has closed. (Btw not planning to abuse this...more like a handul of ladies)
Please advise.
