Hi,

First off I have some new pics on my site; check them out if you like...

Secondly, and most important..Tonight I stopped by my local liquor store after a long day at the hospital to buy some olives(nothing else). I was thinking about my dry martini as I put my purchase(olives) down on the counter. A girl who looked all of 12 asked me for my ID!!!!!!!! I was surprised and questioned this craziness ; I didn't have my ID with me. She told me that you have to show proof of age to buy anything in a liquor store!I look much older then 21 (well maybe not too much ; )! So needless to say I had to take my tired, 12 hour shift (cute) butt to the grocery store which was out of the way!!! Does anybody else think this is ridicuous and any other input about ridiculous rules considering the real crisis that exist in the world?
Thanks for allowing me to vent,

Lisa

Actually, I was carded at a liquor store not too long ago -- for the 1st time in 25 years. It was the biggest compliment I have received in some time -- it beats being asked if you are interested in the senior citizen's discount :)

Hey Lisa, the world is full of silly things... (eg. ever notice that the drive up ATM has braille instructions - hopefully there aren't too many blind people driving). Best thing to do is just laugh at it & share it with your friends  ;-)

Same thing happened to me at a liquor store in Burnsville, and I am 60 years old! There is something scary and insidious about this. I know some people in the liquor business, and they are being FORCED to take these ridiculous measures by the innumerable stings being perpetrated on them by the local police. The are using our tax dollars and their time to go out and find the oldest 20 year 11 month old kid they can find and systematically run them through every liquor establishment, and grocery and convenience store in town. I know; they did it in my town last spring. They had multiple kids (some 17 for cigaettes, 20 for liquor) and hit every place in town just about simultaneously. I have talked to so many people in so many diferent communities where this exact thing has happened that I have to believe that there must be some organized "orders from above" behind all of this.

If an establishment gets caught, it means that they receive a large fine, are shut down for a few days, and the clerk usually loses his/her job. This is for a first offense. Can you blame these people for being skittish? In my opinion, this is either a grab for easy revenue from the large fines, or more likely, another attempt at using our tax dollars to bring us morally "in line". Either way, it's not a good situation.

In summary, when you know what's going on, "Don't shoot the messenger".
