The funding to enforce the Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000 was as follows:
Dec 14, 2005: This bill passed in the House of Representatives by roll call vote. (Roll 632.) The totals were: 426 Ayes, 0 Nays, 7 Present/Not Voting.
Source: http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=h109-972
It was also unanimously passed by the Senate.

Since the new federal law was past…the so-called sex trafficking act…the law was past by both democrats and republicans! So that means new funding is going into LE for this purpose. I have read on some news web sites that LE has stated that the new law will be used against brothel owners, agency owners, pimps and customers. The new Federal laws will over shadow any local laws.
Definitions (refers back to the definitions in the original section 103(9) of the Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000 (22 U.S.C. 7102(9)).
SEX TRAFFICKER.—The term ‘‘sex trafficker’’ means any person who, for financial gain, recruits, harbors, transports, provides, or obtains a person for the purpose of using them for unlawful commercial sex acts. (This would include the massage parlor owner the escort agency owner regardless if its consenting private adult sexwork not the exploitative relationship the world "sex trafficker" implies.)
SEVERE FORMS OF TRAFFICKING - "Severe" means if by force, fraud or coercion. But non "severe" trafficking does not require any coercion, i.e. consenting adult sexworkers.
VICTIM OF A COMMERCIAL SEX ACT.—The term ‘‘victim of a commercial sex act’’ means any person offered for use in a commercial sexual act.
COMMERCIAL SEX ACT.—The term ‘‘commercial sex act’’ means any sex act on account of which anything of value is given to or received by any person (WOW is that broad and vague!)
SEC. 204. ENHANCING STATE AND LOCAL EFFORTS TO COMBAT TRAFFICKING IN PERSONS provides grants to state and local law enforcement agencies to "investigate and prosecute persons who engage in the purchase of commercial sex acts... to investigate and prosecute acts of severe forms of trafficking in persons, and related offenses, to educate persons charged with, or convicted of, purchasing or attempting to purchase commercial sex acts; to educate and train law enforcement personnel in how to establish trust of persons subjected to trafficking and encourage cooperation with prosecution efforts. DEFINITION- In this subsection, the term `related offenses' includes violations of tax laws, transacting in illegally derived proceeds, money laundering, racketeering, and other violations of criminal laws committed in connection with an act of sex trafficking or a severe form of trafficking in persons.
There have been a lot of busts around the country against both agencies and traveling providers. If I remember right that one of the traveling providers has been here before a few years ago. It does not look like she is not going to have too much trouble, but her husband is the one that is…He is arrested on some federal laws. Now about the agency bust that have been going on, a large number of them have been in Florida. Some of them are “known” agencies some not so known. In Angelique’s bust, they were using a provider that was working for them, and she was giving info to LE about the owners and guess what?…clients too! Last week her ad was on Eros, I’m not sure if it still is?
This is too broad of a law!
Some of my other thoughts:
1. I read somewhere that the funding right now for this law is around 24 million. Sorry I wrote down the wrong figure...it is 45 million!
2. Ladies, pay your taxes! In one of the Florida cases, the IRS has investigated the agency and ladies.
3. It seems like the feds are going to go after the SO’s of the ladies. So if your SO is involved in your business, maybe it’s time for them to take a step back?

There's not much we can do about the fascist nature of the current regime, but there are ways to make money off it.
CXW - Corrections Corp of America. Trades on the NYSE. They are building and operating many of the new prisons. As you may know, there are over 3 milliion Americans currently in prison (nearly 1% of our population)--more than twice what there were about 6-7 years ago. There are theoretical risks to this stock (accusations of rape by guards who need no licensing or training since they are private prisons, etc--but the cases always get thrown out, of course...). The U.S. Prison system is one of the fastest growing industries in the world. CXW has gone from around $7/share in 2001 to $43/share now. It's probably too late to buy it now, as it's at 40P/E, but there are other prison stocks and soon there will be a clear Republican majority on the Supreme Court, so a hell of a lot more people will be locked up soon.
Haliburton (HAL) is another example. They're an oil services company, but they also make money by selling Cokes to US soldiers in Iraq for $7/can and washing soldier's clothes for $100/bag. HAL (Dick Cheney's former employer) has gone from $9/share in 2001 to $80/share now--800% in 5 years--pretty good!
Man, it's an evil empire, but we can make money off it. I know what I'm using my money for...
Please don't go buy those stocks right now on my recommendation (as if you would). I don't want to be responsible if you lose money. I've already taken my profits in both those stocks and they could be too expensive now... But my point is that when you feel oppressed by a corrupt system, try to be even more rascally than the leaders and you can make big $ and keep the girls happy.
........$7/can coke, $100/bag laundry??? I haven't checked to verify but would you perhaps offer your source?? Dan Rather, Michael Moore??? The original post stated "signed by both sides" and I haven't seen anyone from the left screaming and hollering about it, not even from the goofball leaders. You choose to rant, go to the politics board and STFU on here about your political views disguised as a discussion on a pertinent issue. Flame away you looney left wackjobs!!!!!!
I understand your reluctance to believe the Coke/laundry prices I stated. As I said, I was a shareholder. My source is their annual reports. You can go to Halliburton.com and click on their 4th Quarter Earnings Release. They are an oil services company, but you will see that their revenue from oil & energy is 2.848 Billion Dollars. Their revenue from Government and Infrastructure is 2.134 Billion Dollars--That's for the QUARTER, not the year. The U.S. Goverment pays them around $10 Billion/year for no-bid contracts in Iraq and services as I described. In all fairness, it ain't easy doing laundry in the middle of the desert. It ain't cheap to haul cases of Coke across the ocean and get them past screaming crazies with machine guns and bombs.
I know these numbers are hard to believe, and I can understand why you'd think me a nutcase for giving them. Fact is, this stuff is all out there for everybody to see, but most people just don't care to look or they ignore all evidence.
These prosections are for those who use a MP that includes bringing someone over state lines. Use your common sense. Cheers to those who keep everyone updated on our government!
So the Bush White House, can't find Osama! Can't stop the ambushing and kidnappings in Iraq!
But now they are going to rid the country of prostitution? This must be the real reason they are spying on Americans!
They will of fail at this also. But they can make life miserable for some in the business.
I really miss Bill Clinton. That was a President that understood the value of a good "Blow Job"!
Hey there, Bush knows the value of a good job -
"Yer doin' a good job, Brownie, Hehehe."
I'm sure he was to soused to remember his last BJ, and I'm sure he hasn't had one since he married robowife Laura.
But after all, he is a "Man of God" these days. Who knows, maybe illegal wiretapping can compensate a crappy sex life.
I don't expect it's going to go away anytime soon. We'll just have to be more creative than "THE MAN". Crooked bastards, all of them. They ought to be more worried about fixing social security and the healthcare crisis.
I like cleavers original post, but then the thread starts the slippery slope down libral lane!
I can't move the partisan posts of this thread over to the politics board without moving the first post.... for now I'm just going to leave it, but remember there is only one type of "bush" we discuss on this board!
Hi Ben, my apologies if I got off topic.
Who's the babe? Got a ph#?
lol ![]()
I know I'm going off topic, but that picture is great!

I'm glad we're back on-topic with the bill! As the original poster pointed out, the language is scary and too loose.
The problem here is the politics of public perception. Normally, when a bill has this kind of flawed language, some of the congress will jump on it and fix it. But nobody wants to be the guy to ammend this bill by saying "let's omit the part about the paying customer being guilty" or "let's make it clear that it's not bad if the woman is taking money for sex of her own free will." ... See what I mean? No congressman can go on record against this law. The headlines would read: "Senator Smith Opposes Ban on Sex Trafficking". Or, if a group of them got together, it would be "Dems Oppose Republican Law Protecting Women from Sex Slavery" That's why the rare unanimous vote. It's because of this same reason that the very acts of oral and anal sex are still illegal in many states. No governor (except maybe Ventura would've) and no local officals want to go on record saying, "Hey, let's make anal sex legal!!!" They'd never live it down and it would end their political career. In general, the public are really repressed when it comes to sex. They're ashamed of their sexual desires. That's the root problem of laws like this.
We have a supportive community here. Maybe we can be the ones to start putting a better public face on sex. All it takes is opening up with friends at a party and saying "My wife and I really enjoy using handcuffs and whipped cream" (my advice: don't say this without your wife's approval first)... Everybody will laugh nervously and blush and look at each other, but eventually if you can get them to open up about it, and if more of the country can open up about it and realize it's part of nature and not a "sin against God", we won't have these crummy bills. Politicians only get self-righteous against things that a majority of people find offensive. People generally don't find sex offensive, but in public they pretend they do. That's what we need to fix.
Okay, I know, I'm being a little too optomistic, but we can hope. Let's put smiles on our faces and proclaim to the world that we like sex!
ALL politicians are basically crooked! Our wonderful hobby will survive regardless of what knucklehead is in office. Basic law of supply and demand. If there is a demand there will be supply! Happy Hobbying!!
