Generally, your inquiry is touching on very sensitive ground with most providers. The majority of independent providers have their own reason(s) why they (freely) enter this business. In turn, they have their own reason(s) why they (freely) leave the business.
The rationale of "because they can" is probably the simplest answer. Examples of "Because They Can" as a simple answer: Why do rock stars tend to marry supermodels? Why do dogs lick their balls? In any event, retirement for a provider is sometimes not a final solution. The hobby always has some ladies leaving the business for awhile and re-entering the business. Almost like flipping a switch, they can re-ignite their business with advertisements and a re-launch of their dormant Internet sites. Note: A provider in my area recently retired. I sent her an inquiry in the middle of July. I received a response last week noting her retirement. However, she indicated that if she were asked nicely to meet once again, then she would consider a new engagement.
It's a tough business and from what I have heard many simply aren't cut out for it and many burn out after a while. Some also do this to accomplish specific goals, such as getting out of debt or paying for an education, and leave once they do. I'm sure there are any number of other reasons as well.
If I were to leave why would it be? It would be a combination of the following:
1. paid off all debts 2. my other business begins to pay better than this one 3. I have enough favorites that I can go UTR and have a blast with the very best sexy funny playful adventurers to keep my life in bed interesting and the library of fun still expanding. (wow, only repeat adventurers ... I'm in love with that idea and I would tease the sh*t out of this board by sending pictures of examples of our fun).

Most ladies don't get into this because it is their dream career, and often you'll find ladies in university trying to educate themselves and pay student loans. Once the schooling is done, paid off, career started, it may be time to put the hobby behind no matter what the payout or if the lady is now debt free. Starting your own business can easily replace the hobby. Sometimes it isn't about the money but about what the heart wants. And like someone else said, many aren't cut out for this!
siness, plan and simple they are are an actor just like we are, you are on stage then the cast changes, let your feeling not be hurt, and if perhaps they care a little about you they will with polite lines just say, I am taking a leave. However as the wind blows mostly they will never tell you, its the one ??? oh will best leave it there.
Graduating University, accomplishing other life goals, or a lady unexpectedly in love, or engaged to be married is another biggie. Doesn't have to be a SD/SB situation. We are real people, with real feelings, and it may just not be all about money. Some of us love what we do, and don't do it so often to burn out on it.
IMO the closest, most loving relationships happen when one is NOT looking to be in one. Again, just my opinion but being a provider of such an intimate service and having a S.O. would be extremely difficult. Peace, Astri
