Avoid flash

I've had a few complaints that my website isn't loading on certain computers. Not sure why, but it might have to do with the flash aspect of the site.

So I am curious

1) Do you see flash player sites or sites with a higher quality than a .... regular one? LOL I'm not overly online savvy.
2) If you can't see a girl's site, does that dissuade you from seeing her or will you attempt based on her TER review?
3) Would you tell a lady if you couldn't see her site?

I'm worried there might be a good number of people who can't see mine, but can't tell because have only had two complaints! I feel like changing it but then again I love it so much... weighing my options. I've made a Version 1.0 with the link available on the first page of my new site, but if that first page doesn't load the friend still won't see the site!

What do you guys think?

I design and manage several sites and I would recommend staying away from anything Flash.

If some people can't see it, the technical problem is on their end not yours.

While seeing a girls web site is helpful, it's not a deal breaker if I can't. Good consistent reviews and ads with honest pics are whats important to me.

I would never complain to you if I couldn't see your site, I would install or upgrade my flash player.

I don't mind being flashed in other ways but Flash sites are not viewable on an iPad or iPhone. I did see that Natalie's site does offer a non-Flash option.

I agree with DHRider, avoid Flash.  It's dying and is increasingly not supported.

iPhone and iPad users will not be able to view your site.  Many android users won't have flash installed, and won't be able to view your site.

If they can't view your site, they can't see your pics, they can't see your rates, they can't see what you have to say about yourself..  For every complaint you get, at least 10 people walk away silently.

Many phone plans now cap bandwidth usage or up charge if you go over. Flash sites chew up tons of bandwidth and if the phone bill comes in bigger than expected from overages eventually the wife or SO will start snooping around.

I don't know why but I have noticed a trend where many guys are dumping their hobby phones in favor of using their personal phone iPhone or Android as an all in one phone including for hobby related activities.

Flash and it's Microsoft counterpart (Silverlight) are both antiquated (all but deprecated) by HTML 5, which is the newest standard.

This problem you're experiencing has been going on since the days of Netscape which, in IT terms, has been going on forever.

I agree with the others that Flash is best avoided in favor of current standards and technology.

I think I'll just reinstate the old site as an alternate for friends who can't see the new one! I know that when one complains 10 walk away silently, and this is what I DON"T WANT! Thanks again for your help I had lots of pms and it seems like Safari on mac and Ipad/Ipods don't want to see it. Oh well ;) Expect some changes in the next few days once my family leaves town and I can get back to work!
