It's right in their TOS

They claim they use the fake profiles to monitor how members use the site or some kind of BS like that.

On AM I have found profiles from some providers. There is a setting that will allow you to block the 'angels' - employees of AM  - from showing up. Also, there have been several cam girls that have used the site to lure men into subscribing to their cam site.  

There has been a large TS with red hair and DDD on the site for a long time. I don't know if they are a provider, but I have seen the picture for years.

Providers should copyright their photos

So they can sue those bastards.  Anyone that signs up for Ashley Madison or Adult Friend Finder is being scammed
