This is not a malicious comment, but I don't think "we" voted you spokesperson for this board. Unless I missed a board meeting.

but if you would like to judge for yourself, I would recommend going to the pages of posts that predate the most recent week. That way you can read older posts and get an idea of the level of discourse. You could also use the search function to read previous posts on subjects that are of interest to you.

Most of the time it's rather friendly, but you will notice that there are some "hot button" topics where there are some rather large differences of opinion. Also, when people feel they are being attacked you will see flares of anger (the recent dramas being a rather nasty sample)

Because of the lack of verbal inflection ("tone of voice") posts can be subject to misinterpretation.

Just like any other internet forum or venue, posters sometimes lapse and say rude things in posts that they would never say to someones face. Individuals can vary greatly in their level of friendliness, just like in real life.

It is certainly understandable that you would want to determine the amount of pee in the pool before diving in.

Come on in the water is fine! (avoid those raucous kids splashing over in the corner).

We are wary of strangers though. And we do tend to watch out for each other when outsiders and aliases come here and make questionable inquiries. However,  once you have become a little more known and create a history, the ladies and gentlemen with loosen up and let you in.

Open discourse, heated discussion and amicable resolutions are what discussion boards should be about.  It's great to have an environment where people can speak their minds and iron out the issues.


MN folks rock! I think they will make you feel quite welcome, here.

Sometimes somebody will do something to get people riled up pretty good (which you probably noticed just happened a few days ago) but most of the time we get a long pretty well even when we disagree.  It can take a while for a newcomer to be accepted as some of us are suspicious, perhaps overly so, because of things that happened back in the summer of 09.  But stick around for a while and take part and all should be fine.  Welcome!

For a minute I was regretting even posting this, I was thinking no one would bother to answer the question. Well apparently I was very wrong and delighted at the same time. I actually appreciate every response. even the snotty ones. (giggling).

I do love opinionated people. Without them, it would make a quiet board.
