My real-world career had me living in Duluth for a few months, and while I was there I tried putting ads on BP just to see if there was any interest. I think I got four emails total: two were flakes, one was downright rude, and one was an former friend that I reconnected with. There's just not much of a market there for providers (let alone indie $300+/hr ones).

That said, I think most of us are willing to travel up there if we can be reasonably assured it'll be worth our time! If you have someone particular in mind, you might offer her a 25% deposit (and perhaps a 2-hour or longer visit) to let her know you aren't going to cancel on her at the last minute. :
