We must put a stop to the killing, so many people get assault weapons without even showing proper ID, why?  We worry more about people showing ID to vote than we do for someone getting an AK-47.

I thought he had two pistols, but I may not have the whole story.  I don't know if he was a psychopath (I'm sure we will find out), but if he was, there is no cure.  You know they are going to go off, you just don't know when.  I will be curious to find out if there were any signs looking back on his behavior.

My hats off to one very smart and brave teacher who shuffled her class to the bathroom and locked the door.  I'm guessing we will learn about more stories of other heroes who saved lives.

What bothers me is these cowards always seem to pick schools....lots of children and they know no one is armed.

I don't have kids, but I have many nieces and nephews.  I feel sad when I think what kind of world they might have to live in when they get older.  Seems like we have digressed significantly in the last 15-20 years.

20 = average number of people killed by guns in mass shootings in America each year
15,000 = average number of people killed by guns one at a time in America each year

It is interesting (and a little sad) how we're almost desensitized by the one here and one there.  But also, how many of those 15,000 are innocent grade school children?  Lastly, when you hear of a single shooting, there is usually a reason behind it, even if they aren't good ones (theft, jealousy, hate, etc.).  In these mass murders of children, it's tough to come up with reasons often time.

Look at Columbine.  Eric Harris was a psychopath and he just wanted to kill for the sake of killing. It's hard for anyone to wrap their arms around that.  As many have said, it's completely senseless.

By the way, I have read the book, "Columbine" and it is absolutely fascinating.  It's graphic and disturbing, but I could not put it down.  In addition a VERY in depth examination of both of the boys (using a lot of the tapes and journals they left), it also provides a chronological explanation of exactly what happened at that school on that day.  It also tell the stories of some amazing people that I consider heroes.

The shooter apparently headed towards his mothers classroom after leaving the principals office.
He was armed with two pistols and left a rifle in the car.   Also, there was a second crime scene where one more was found dead.

Last I heard, 18 children and 6 adults plus the shooter dead at the school, 2 children died at the hospital and another victim dead at the second crime scene.

One small boy was walking to the principals office with the attendance report.  He said he could hear the gunfire and see bullets fly.    a teacher heard the gunfire so went to the door of her classroom.  She snatched that boy out of the hall and into her room, locking the door behind them.   She's a hero.

Pictures of shocked and scared children and parents,  sobbing...grateful yet mourning the loss of other lives.

After the incident, the surviving children were escorted out of the school.  They were told to cover their eyes........  How completely and utterly heartwrenching.

All the gun laws in the world will not stop an insane person from wreaking such havoc and destruction on the innocent.

It doesn't but I think we can let this slide . Some of us have kids & love teachers or are teachers. I mean this is a very horrible thing to have happen right before the holidays so
Least we can do is be sympathetic to those affected.
Yes even if it didn't happen here. You need a big warm hug!  I'll melt you Ice king!  Lol(mostly kidding)

People need to express the depth of the saddness and shock at these evil events, It really doesn't matter where. It's appropriate, in my view, to get the feelings out in the open. Providers and clients have feelings and many are parents (and granparents!). I offer you all a cyber-hug and wish you all peace at this very tough time. If you get the chance, never pass up hugging your kids and tell them you love them!

Don't like the thread? Don't read it.

If you 'got hooked in,' the first eight words of the OP should have sufficed to unhook you. Not a huge burden.

Intolerance when people are responding to tragedy is what's inappropriate.

After hearing the tragic news I declined two "hobby related" appointment requests as well as postponed a scheduled appointment until Saturday. I simply couldn't justify in my heart of hearts indulging in a passionate romp knowing these people are suffering so. Nor could I justify providing a half hearted service. & that is about all I'd have had in me to give.

Feeling helpless I sought solace here. I wanted to give something. To reach out to these poor families. Asking members of this board to join in prayers (small as it is) seemed an appropriate way of providing some level of support. Sorry if you have a problem with that. (sarcasm intended)

We are a community of caring human beings (most of us anyway) Despite a rift here & there we are here for each other when it all comes down to it. I for one appreciate that.

Oh lord! Why I am dignifying your lack of sensitivity with a response right now is beyond me.

Safe wishes to you.

No ones making you read it. You're entitled to have your opinion however there's a way to be tactfu at expressing thatl without sounding so mean & cold hearted.  As a mommy to 6 wonderful kids I would be devastated if this happened at school where they're supposed to be safe. Absolutely devastated!  This is why I stay humble & I'm grateful for everything positive in my life especially my children.
Happy holidays & stay safe!  Xoxo. V.

The posts here are not of religious or political nature ,they are of compassion and concern. Anyone who wouldnt see that is a heartless fuck. To me it opens my eyes to be thankful for what i have and feel compassion for those that have lost loved ones . I pray God will give them the strength to get through this.

IMO, sometimes it really doesn't matter where something is posted when it comes to something like this.  .  We're all human beings.  It's easy to just walk on by if it's not your thing.

No, it doesn't have anything to do with hobbying in MN.  I think in this case an exception is appropriate.
