Not trying to rehash and old thread here. I am really trying to ask a serious question.  
I have always believed that glamor shots don't really show the real person. With today's software you can make anyone look real good and in a way distract from the real appearance.  

Would you consider glamor shots and/ or otherwise photo shopped pictures to be fake?

And the answer is, "Some are, some partly are, some mostly aren't, and some aren't at all."

Regarding photoshop, it depends what was done. Did she remove a tattoo for privacy? Clean up zits that she had on the day of her shoot? Lose a goofy lock of hair that looked bad? No, those things don't make it a fake photo. Did she take 40 pounds off her waist? Add three inches to her height? Tack someone elses head onto her shoulders, or her head on someone elses body? Yes, those are fake photos. Until you refine your question a lot more closely, no better anwer is possible.

As for glamour shots, my view is that they are so obviously what they are that only a careless person would be misled. And that is true ten-fold if the photographer has watermarked the photo. If her hair is perfectly coifed, it doesn't mean she will always be coming straight from the stylist's chair. If her make-up accentuates her features perfectly, even movie stars don't look that good in real life. If the photographer carefully posed her to look her best, so her waist, or hips, or legs are obscured rather than featured, just figure there was a reason for that decision. In my experience, if she has at least 5 photos with different poses, a careful look will give you a clear idea of both the good and the bad. If she only has one or two, ya pays yer money and ya takes yer chances.

Always glad to help. What does she look like? Where did you lose her? Did you have her lojacked?

I know how it is. You lose concentration for a minute and they wander away. Like herding cats.

The question this topic suggests to me is whether a person you might meet has done a good job meeting the expectations suggested by the photos. And aren't the "glamour" photos part of the fantasy?

Pictures may be over-photo-shopped if the gentleman shows up and can't recognize his date. It could be interpreted as false advertising, but you always have the option to leave.  

I've always found it better to undersell. It leads to better smiles and memories.

It seems to me, you have issues with pictures.  I read a few of your reviews and you make mention of the pictures in more than one.  I wonder if you have unreasonable and unfair expectations of providers and women in general and those expectations leave you disappointed.

Glamour shots are all about glamour, glitz, beauty, fashion, makeup, etc.  Any reasonably intelligent person should be able to figure out that glamour shots are often photo shopped...some better than others, some more than others.  Providers want to show their best self.  There is absolutely nothing wrong with that unless the picture is photoshopped to death and the pic no longer looks like them.  Someone used an example of taking off 40 lbs or removing several inches from the waist.  Both would be misleading and unacceptable, IMO.

If you want a real honest and true representation, only see those who post selfies.  You cannot be disappointed then.      Honestly, I would not blame any lady for being hesitant to see you.   I would worry that no matter what I did, it would not be enough to please you.

To some degree no and to some degree yes.  The question is at what point does the photoshopping become deceptive.  Well, people will have different answers to that depending on how close the woman they find on the other side of the door matches what they saw in the pictures.

Most models, politicians, business execs and yes...providers will want to look their best in photos.  The question is if they did so much work that you don't recognize them when you see them in person.  Some sites like P411 have photos verified.  Some sites do a better job than others verifying, but you should expect at least a resemblance of the live person from the photo.

here I fear.  Vorlon seemed to have about the best answer that I agree with.  Not surprising as he has been well respected here for many years.

Langeweile, after reading your previous post and thread that got a bit out of hand I really toiled over posting the rest of this as I fear it may be taken wrong or in the wrong spirit by some but here it goes.

I've really become NOT a fan of glamour shots.   Been burned way to many times to even count. I say all this below sincerely while trying to be as tactful as possible: If someone window shopping finds that the actual item is off from whats in the window or has major blemishes made to look perfect, there is going to be disappointment for most no matter how nice of a person they are.  Belinda mentions taking off 40lbs, thats extreme and "fake" in my view.  Even taking off 10-15 would be considered a major misrepresentation for me.  

For me there have been many times I should have just turned around and walked.  My problem is, I'm a kind and caring human being that is concerned about peoples feelings.  I'll let my own feelings be hurt as to not cause pain to others so I suck up the disappointment and make the best of it...nerves also play a factor.  Its one if the reasons I write very few reviews.  After many years experience, I try now to limit my exposure to those situations but still wind up disappointed on occasion.

My rules at this point are:

1.  If a certain popular photographer is used, I automatically pass unless there are other non glam shots out there.  Twitter or Facebook sometimes provide real accurate info.  I work in photoshop so I can tell shopped photos easily but there is no way to tell how far it went so best to pass if not verified by other means.

2.  If the photo is not a clear representation of the body type, I pass.  I figure its blurry or in a certain pose for a reason.  The ladies know what we want/like better than we do most times, they are amazing creatures .....most times we are driven by impulse triggers of visual things that if they do not match, ends in disappointment.

3.  If the reviews are all 9-9 or 10-10's and there is nothing but glam shots, its really going to be a crap shoot.  If I cannot find further evidence the pictures match reality, I pass.

Now keep in mind that all this is based on the fact that I am looking for a certain body type and look, that is what gets me going. For others its something else, I get that and its obvious in all the reviews.  I have had 11 for looks, real model types that got me so wound up I thought it was over...but then they opened their mouth for 10 minutes and I left disappointed.  On the other side, I rarely if ever go from disappointed at the door because of misrepresented pics and leave fully satisfied or wanting more.  If there is one thing about this hobby its that there is something for everyone, finding it is still the hard part.

Langeweile,  I have seen some of the ladies on your review list in the past.  I think you do a great job in reviews and your opinion, clearly not malicious in intent is the entire reason for this site to begin with. All who participate should respect that fact.
