While 50 Shades of Gray is a popular fantasy book, reading the real reviews of some of Minnesota's finest is way more exciting and erotic. Anyone else really love to read these reviews?

Some reviewers are quite good at capturing the moment and making it come alive on "virtual" paper.

I have honestly never read a review that actually turned me on. Neither did 50 Shades, considering the book was written by someone with no prior BDSM experience, and essentially condones an abusive relationship in the name of "fantasy."

If you want to read something sexy, try Anais Nin, Henry Miller, Marguerite Duras' "The Lover," de Sade's "Justine." These writers write about sex in ways that will BLOW YOUR MIND.

“Hélène Lagonelle’s body is heavy, innocent still, her skin’s as soft as that of certain fruits, you almost can’t grasp her, she’s almost illusory, it’s too much. She makes you want to kill her, she conjures up a marvelous dream of putting her to death with your own hands. Those flour-white shapes, she bears them unknowingly, and offers them for hands to knead, for lips to eat, without holding them back, without any knowledge of them and without any knowledge of their fabulous power. I’d like to eat Hélène Lagonelle’s breasts as he eats mine in the room in the Chinese town where I go every night to increase my knowledge of God. I’d like to devour and be devoured by those flour-white breasts of hers.
I am worn out with desire for Hélène Lagonelle.
I am worn out with desire.
I want to take Hélène Lagonelle with me to where every evening, my eyes shut, I have imparted to me the pleasure that makes you cry out. I’d like to give Hélène Lagonelle to the man who does that to me, so he may do it in turn to her. I want it to happen in my presence, I want her to do it as I wish, I want her to give herself where I give myself. It’s via Hélène Lagonelle’s body, through it, that the ultimate pleasure would pass from him to me.
A pleasure unto death.”
--Duras, "The Lover"

Go read some real literature and then come back and tell me reviews are sexy.

Rolling on the floor laughing my ass off,
Remy

Even then I take them with a grain of salt. They do give me a good idea of what a gent likes & dislikes & help me decide if we will be a good match or not. Do I find them entertaining? Typically no.

Another suggestion for real hot reading? "Story of O"

Here is a review from the NY Times:
“The free publication of Story of O in this country is an event of considerable importance… it is a significant measure of how far we have come in lifting the restrictions on art and our responses to it… In brief, Story of O relates the progressive willful debasement of a young and beautiful Parisian fashion photographer, O, who wants nothing more than to be a slave to her lover, René. The test is severe—sexual in method, psychological in substance… The artistic interest here has precisely to do with the use not only of erotic materials but also erotic methods, the deliberate stimulation of the reader as a part of and means to a total, authentic literary experience.”

—Eliot Fremont-Smith, The New York Times

----50 shades of grey is what the twilightmoms read because it is at there level. Sorry, but the books are bland.

I always wondered if providers found reviews useful for researching potential clients... just as hobbyists use reviews to research potential providers, to find a "good match".

One problem though with using reviews for research is you never know for sure which are real and which are bogus... and which are partially real but contain mis-truths.  I saw one recently I know to be bogus as I know that provider left the business before the date on the review.  I tried to get TER to investigate, but found out they have no interest in doing that, even when presented with hard evidence that the review is bogus.  :-(

So as has been mentioned before, and great advice I think, is to trust reviews only in aggregate... i.e. if all or almost all reviews are consistent on some point, that's likely the truth.  Beware of the "outliers".
