A taxi fare in TJ that's not 5 dollars, plus tiiippp my friend?   LOL

Yes, you can tell how far out in TJ I have gone in a taxi.

Thinking of spending a couple of days in TJ.  I see the TeamJuanita site recommends a few hotels.  Any preferences for the hobby?  I was thinking of El Camino Real but interested in other suggestions.  (Won't be driving.)

It depends on what you'll doing.  And where you'll spend the bulk of your time.

The Zona Norte (ZN) hotels are at best one star places, but you're in the heart of the action (without cab fare).  Hotel Santigo is the best of a bad lot in the ZN.

Downtown the Ticuan is the newest and nicest.  If you stay there get a room that doesn't face the street and more importantly Las Pulgas (a disco) unless you sleep like a rock.  The next best is Villa Zaragosa.  If you're downtown you can walk to the Zona Norte, plus you're near MPs, and escorts can visit you.

For pure comfort stay in a Zona Rio hotel--not to be confused with the Zona Norte or "Zona."  The El Camino Real hotel is in the Zona Rio area.

A very popular hotel for mongers wanting comfort is the Pueblo Amigo.  It's near very near the border (so your cell phone works there) and as nice (or better) than the El Camino Real.

Near the Pueblo Amigo is a little area that contains the Bolero Strip club, Luxor massage parlor, some restaurants, and a grocery store.  It is very chica friendly.  It's a $5.00 cab ride (same as El Camino) to the Zona Norte.

Personally I'd probably stay someplace else; someplace farther away from the action.  But I do more in TJ than monger and I know Tijuana's streets better than most mongers.  Also I drive in TJ.

I can't get the edit feature to work.  I wanted to add:

Don't stay in a Zona Norte hotel (such as the Hotel del Santiago) if you plan on seeing an escort in the hotel.  Nearly all escorts (for good reasons) won't do a session in a Zona Norte hotel.  (Zona Rio yes, Zona Norte no.)

The Pueblo Amigo, Ticuan, Villa Zaragosa, and (if I remember correctly) the El Camino Real are OK choices to see escorts.  Other Zona Rio hotels, like my favorite the Lucrena, are not chica friendly. So if you're planning on seeing an escort you might want to run the selection by an escort agency if you don't know what hotels are and are not "chica friendly."

Zona Rio (where the El Camino Real is located) is the financial heart of Tijuana.  It's the true (non-tourist) downtown area of Tijuana.  So it has the best hotels and restaurants.

Like the Pueblo Amigo, the El Camino Real is a nice place.  It's fairly close to the Zona Rio shopping center and the Cultural Center.  It's also fairly near some great restaurants, like Rivoili in the Lucerna hotel and Pampas, Villa Savarios, Chans, La Differencia, and La Espanana all on Sanchez Tobado.

The Hotel Hacienda (part of the Baja Inn chain) is nice, but not as nice as the El Camino Real or Pueblo Amigo.  It's also less expensive and right across the street from Pampas (so it's very close to the other restaurants I mentioned).

The downside to the El Camino Real is that it isn't next to any mongering action as is the case with the Pueblo Amigo.  Mongering action isn't far way from the El Camino, just not in walking distance.

It really comes down to a few things:
--How much comfort do you want in a hotel
--Will you be doing things other than mongering
--How close to "action" do you want to stay (walking distance or $5.00 cab distance)
--Do you plan on having escorts come to your hotel

What's your opinion on the Marriott?

How is it as far as location from Zona Norte?

Purposes of the stay would include: having chicas come to the room, going to Zona Norte (cab is ok), also shopping, sight seeing and good restaurants...

It is chica friendly, although sometimes they do copy the ID of the chica for your protection.  Probably $7 taxi fair to the Zona.  You wouldn't want to walk it...although I have :)

Would you recommend any hotel over the Marriott that is at the same level of quality, etc.?

The Marriott is one of the best hotels--if not the best hotel--in Tijuana.  Its drawbacks are that it isn't close to anything and that it lacks a top flight restaurant.

The Tijuana Grand Hotel is in the same league as the Marriott (so is the Pueblo Amigo), although the Marriott is second to none.

The Grand Bistro in the Tijuana Grand Hotel is perhaps the best restaurant in Tijuana.  Across the street is Fondo Argentina (a great steak place) and Casa Placenica, a first rate restaurant.
