I like to congratulate burt2020 for his excellent and comprehensive guide to TJ. I would like to keep his guide intact without replies, so I am creating a new thread here so that people can post their comments.

As I quickly read through his guide, there are a number of tiny things I thought about, but they are mostly trivial. One thing I liked about his guide is, no more O'Toolean nonesense of "AB/CC are the only bars for gringos", as he encourages people to find their own spots.

At the same time, though, there are literally dozens of bars in the zona, and they are not all created equal. Particularly, there are bars where people have reported certain problems and troubles. For example, the bar Kaoss next to Mermaids tried to rip me off. There is also a report of a monger getting drugged and robbed for $300 at Odisea.

I can personally recommend the following bars as gringo friendly, relatively trouble free and worth exploring. AB, CC, La Tropa, Bar Tropical, Las Chavelas, Pollo, Manhattan, Miami, Hong Kong. Obviously, this does not mean that the bars I did not mention should be avoided, but I don't have enough personaly experiences there.
