I person has to hobby... right?
Thanks,

La Mansion: this is gonna be the one most recommended here. Just do a search here on that name and you can read why. I;ve never been there so I have nothing to add except I've driven by and it looks perfect for your needs.
Pueblo Amigo: This is where I stay cuz it feels more normal to me. There is a sports/booking bar; pretty good hotel restaurant; I like the service there; it's clean and the rooms are nice enough; there are nice restaurants in walking distance; and, oh yeah, the chicks at the MP next door are HOT.
what are the rates at the hotel? do they mind if you bring girls in?
I've never brought a girl in to PA so I'm not certain how it would go. But here are my thoughts about it:
1) I think they would have a pretty good idea what's going on but probably not give you a hard time about it. If you brought a girl back at night you would walk by one or maybe two guys who work the desk area late at night. Probably not a big deal and they wouldn't be the ones you'd see in the morning when you check out. I seriously doubt they would bother you about it.
2) You could always ask the girl to meet you at your room and just give her the room number so no one would know who she was with.
3) There is a post below that says you can hire a girl at the MP next door to come up with you to your room at PA. I have never done that and did not know you could, but it sounds like a really nice idea. If it is correct, then you have your answer.
Rooms are expensive by TJ standards but cheap by San Diego standards. I think about $80/night is close - I'd have to go check an old credit card statement to be sure. But you could probably do a quick google search and find out exactly.

I wouldn't recommend La Mansion for what you're looking for. The place is nice, but rooms aren't that big.
I'd go with Pueblo Amigo if I were you, it fits what you're looking for. If you're looking for a nice place to sleep, Pueblo Amigo is good.
For me, I look for a place that's convenient, not dirty and has a decent bed and I don't plan on sleeping at all........Beds in TJ are for fucking not sleeping.
A year ago AAA listed the rate as $140 but did NOT (as it does with USA lodging) list that a AAA discount is available. That discount reduces the rate to around $90. Apparently, others have reduced the rate further by betting at the Caliente facility in the hotel and obtaining a note from them that a bet was placed.
Room was nice and restaurant nice (but cold). Stangely, room is supplied with only one wash cloth. Even though I check in with a lady, nothing was said about having room service supply what would be needed. I had to request another washcloth. I told front desk that much cheaper facilities in the US routinely supply two sets of towels and asked why they did not. If you are familiar with Mexico, you can guess the response.

I, too, normally use the PA on what are my all too infrequent TJ trips. Since I don't go too often, I don't mind spending a bit more than at La Mansion or other places. I've always found two sets of towels etc when I checked in and in my experience the service is above-par. Have had girls come to my room directly or met them in the bar lounge... no comments or looks from staff but these girls didn't look out of place. Haven't rented any of the girls at Luxor MP next door but they will come to your room at the PA for an extra fee.
Thanks for the info.. how Close is PA to the
Zone?
depending on traffic;
during the day, about 10-15 minutes
at night with no traffic, less than 10
Also depends on the sense of direction of you and/or your cabbie. Mine happens to suck so I have screwed up getting there from the zona virtually every time I've done it. I've had cabbies screw it up too - something about the streets around there is very complicated if you're either a dumb ass, drunk, or very horny. Unfortunately, on occasion, I fall into all three categories while in tj.
I suggest Taxi Libre over Yellow Cab... Yellow from the PA will be $5-6 and Libre about half that or less. If you tell them Adelitas, they should ALL know exactly where you want to go and how to get there.
For what you describe, I’d recommend the Pueblo Amigo hotel, which is near the border. An Internet search will locate its website; the phone number is 800/386-6985. It's chica friendly. Within the same plaza as the PA you'll find Luxor massage parlor and Bolleros strip club.
You are better crossing Sundays on foot than by car. However, be prepared for a long line as lines are longer on Sundays than almost any other time during the week.
What the heck's an FOB? (cuz if Burt2010 likes 'em, I gotta believe they're pretty good)
Damn! Posted this in the wrong place. In the Mermaids thread above this one Burt mentions that he likes FOBs. I have spent some time today searching around to find out what it is, but no one seems to know and there is no definition in the attached list.
Someone asked if I meant ROB. I said no and that FOB must be something good cuz Burt2010 likes 'em. So, what the heck is it?

Found it in a post from juanstijuana two friggin' years ago!
I usually go Motel Los Pinos (664) 684-5496 or El Parador 686-4722 when I'm with a girl. Both motels costs around $30. They have some rooms with hot tubs and the rates are a little more. El Parador has been recently been refurbished and is a lot cleaner than most hotels in JT. The room service is a little different. You order like a normal room service but when they deliver it there is a small rotary door and you can't see who is there. After you spin the door around and get your stuff out you place your money in and spinn it back around. One thing good about Los Pinos is that they two condoms and mints on the night stand. It is also closer to revolution. You go straight up revolution into El Ruby and it is on your right hand side.
