Hey Burt, someone told me you're a Mod on TJ Amigos, is that true?
Were you a member of Juan’s or maybe Club Hombre? Both of those sites have tons of current info so I'm wondering which site you're describing as old stuff and not current.
Or maybe you're talking about the old Redsnake website. Of course if it was Redsnake, you're right, that info is old stuff since it's been closed down about 5 years ago....lol
You're right, why subscribe to a pay site when you can get info for free.
But you do get what you pay for.
If you guys want general info, the free sites are good to get knowledge to get around TJ.
But from my experience with the sites, even from the old Redsnake days, guys copy and paste info and show it to the chicas.
With a free site, the chicas can read and see who wrote a review so much of the info is more ambiguous so they can't be traced back to the writer.
I disagree that the pay sites don't have current info. On Juan's or Club Hombre, the info is current since many members live in TJ or frequent the Zone every week.
There's enough info out there and sites for everyone. If a guy wants general info, the free sites are cool. Now if a guy wants detailed info, IMO you won't get as much from the free sites as you will from the pay sites like Hombre or Juan’s. I believe on a free site, there have been too many freaks with multiple aliases.
With a pay site, there's more security with posted info and pics. Sure nothing's 100% but from what I've seen, a pay site brings a lot more security and more guys will post more detailed info along with pics.
What I like about Juan's is there’s lots of info on other parts of the world besides TJ too. Several guys have just come back from Rio and also the Phillipines and the reviews and pics makes me want to chuck it all and hop on a plane.
I’d say the original guy who posted above and was dissatisfied with Juan’s joined and paid for the basic membership. If someone asks me, I always tell them to join and get the Premier membership since for only $20 more, you get the reviews, trip reports and access to lots of pics. Basic membership may be comparable to the free sites but when you pay a little, you get a lot back in return.
I guess everyone has their own ideas of what they expect from a website.
I just got back from my first TJ run and had a great time! Before I went, I read many threads on the TJ board and got the feeling I should join a TJ info website before roaming the streets of TJ. I joined the one one hobbyist kept recommending. MY MISTAKE!!! After joining Juan's Tijuana for $35 I discovered another FREE website that gave just as much, if not more, information. Just thought I'd let others learn from my mistake. BTW, TJ Amigos is the free wesite.
IMO, the mistake you made was not paying an additional $20 to get Premier membership.
ALL the bar and street girl reports, the pictures, the trip reports are what really make the difference......
I'll bet you that $20, if you should upgrade and then compare sites, you'll see the differences in sites.

Rockhard, you are absolutely correct. I am on all the major TJ boards which are Juan's Tijuana, TJ Amigos and Club Hombre. Juan's and Hombre are pay but I prefer them. They also use board fomats they are far superior to the free board at TJ Amigos. Easier to find things and navigate. And as you said rockhard, the privacy issue is big to me. I don't want to post on a board that is free, unprotected and guys use mutliple aliases. I find Juan's and the Hombre boards to be extremely up to date and both have lots of TJ girl pics. Juan's seems to be better for TJ info and Hombre for world info, although Juan's has a huge Asia section with lots of reports and pics. So I don't know what Burt is talking about. And yes rockhard, Burt is a moderator on TJAmgigos so I would say he has prejudice in his post here. Also there is way too much chit chat and fighting on TJ Amigos. You have to read through countless chit chat posts to get the info you are looking for. You get what you pay for. Juans Tijuana and Hombre are well worth the inexpensive annual membership fee.

I'm only on Juans and came over after the closing of Redsnake. I've heard about all the BS on Amigos and don't need crap like that and yes, I've heard you do get what you pay for. If you are a cheap fuck, the free sites are cool since you'll have the time and patience to sift through the BS to maybe find what you need.
I do feel that Juans and Hombre are a good value in what you do get. I keep telling guys here that if you go to TJ even once, it's worth investing a SMALL amount of money to get a ton of info. I know lots of guys that went to Hombre's so they should have smiliar info and to compare the free sites and the pay sites is night and day...
i notice that this tj discussion board is slow at times and so are the other tj sites whether free or pay. IMHO it seems the tj mongers are using their time and resources in actual mongering rather than writing and reminicing [sp] about their recent tj escapades. But all sites seem to provide the basics to allow a newbie monger to visit tj and experience the rojo district for themselves.
