TJ, the fun part address

I will be going to TJ in the coming days with a friend visiting. I will be taking my car, and for sure will be visiting Revolucions Avenue.  I can park the car there, and take a cab to the Fun area/Adelita, etc.  Could someone help me with the address of Adelita, just in case we decided to drive?  Assuming the starting point is not the border, rather Revolucione ave.

Thanks.

Save yourself the effort, Do not drive. Bad neighborhood for bringing cars. But if you are daring, there is a parking lot 1-1/2 northwest of the Red Light District.

Ask for Revolucion Blvd.

The streets are one way with interesting loops around the center.

Use a taxi. Save the risk.

Really would probably better to park on the US side and walk across and grab a cab.  Driving back to the US is a major pain, as far as the border wait.  Granted it can be a long walk line but that's more hit and miss.  Seems there's always a long line to drive across.  Granted it's been a few years since I have gone down to TJ.  I do remember as an 18/19 year old when we would bitch if we had 4 or 5 cars in front of us at 2am!  LOL.

Dude, don't bring your car.
Take a cab from the border.  Tell them you want to go to Adelitas or Chicago Club.  Don't go to Revolucion.  This way you'll get there quickly and safely.  I've been beat up walking from Revolucion to Adelitas.  Only once out of countless times, but that's enough.  I walked because 5 bucks (cab fare) was a lot of money to me.  Consider it cheap insurance.  Nothing worth visiting on Revolucion anyway.  Except Lord Blacks, at the far end of the street.  And that's a no-touch zone, except for upstairs.  Not FS though.

I'd welcome other input from you guys.  But I'd definitely not bring the car to Zona Norte.  Maybe to Zona Rio (the shopping/restaurant part), but not to Adelitas.

Good luck amigo!

I've parked in a lot next door to Chicago Club with no problem.  [Even broke down there once and had a mechanic a block away tow me out and fix the car, but that's another story.]

I've parked in lots off of Revolution with no problem.

I've walked many times from Rev. to Adelitas/etc. with no problem.

However, I am a total idiot when it comes to giving directions - I can see in my head how to do it, but just can't seem to find the words.

When I walk from Revolution it's kind of easy.  Here's my dumbass description:

On the far side of Revolution, on the opposite side of the way to Adelitas, you will see the Jai Lai betting arena.  It's big so it's easy to remember and find and it's at the far end of Revolution, not the way you want to go if you want to walk/drive to Adelita.

Now, if you walk/drive the other direction on Rev. and just keep going straight, I swear, you will somehow, magically find your way there.  It's like sperm swimming, they just know where to go.  If you are there at night, there's all these mexican musicians hanging around on the street waiting for someone to hire 'em.  You walk past that intersection and you kind of go down hill a bit for a couple of blocks.  If you're going in this direction, Adelitas will be on your left a few blocks down.  It's kind of dirty and ripped up along this walk, but I've done it a lot and never had a problem.  But I would not do it wasted.

Sorry, I don't have an address or real directions...just trying to say that it's really kind of easy...you can ALWAYS find someone who will walk you there for $2 and be happy.  They will try to take you to a massage parlor cuz they will get money if they bring you there.  But you can always so no you wanna go to Adelitas.  They won't get a tip from Adelitas so they will discourage you.  Just keep in mind that you are an ATM machine to them and stay focused on what you would like to do and see, but there's no harm in checking out the MPs and some are pretty good, less of a loud, noisy mess than Adelitas on a weekend night.

if you drive in, it's absolutely necessary you get Mexican car insurance. US car insurance doesn't mean shit in Baja.

Remember that line from the Dirty Harry movie?

"well, do you feel lucky punk?

If you feel lucky, then go ahead and drive in TJ.
Should you get into a car accident and the cops come and you DON"T have Mexican car insurance, your luck just ran out....

Then you'll be able to tell us what it is like on the inside of a TJ jail cell.

ATM is right . Next to CC has a great parking lot. Just give the attnt. couple of bucks tips and they will take of you. Talk about convenience!

I recommend parking at the border and taking one of the Taxi Libre that are available out front of McDonalds/Caliente.  They charge $2 per trip.  That way, you aren't tipping an attendant, don't have to worry about the border wait coming beck, etc.  Just go down and do your business and on the way back, just tell the driver to get you as close to the border as possible.  They'll drop you off about a 2-3 minute walk from the point of entry.
